Gujarat Titans stormed into the final of the IPL 2026 season by defeating Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2. Royals’ opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi blasted 96 runs off just 47 balls to shatter a huge all-time IPL record in the process.

Rishabh Pant steps down as LSG captain
Rishabh Pant has stepped down as LSG captain following their disastrous finish in the IPL 2026 season. Under his leadership, the LSG franchise registered just four wins and sustained 10 defeats from 14 matches to finish the IPL 2026 season at the bottom of the 10-team points table.

Pant informed the franchise of his decision, and the development was confirmed through an official statement from LSG director of cricket Tom Moody.
South Africa Women to tour Zimbabwe in September
The South Africa Women’s cricket team is set to travel to Zimbabwe for a historic tour later this year. As confirmed by both cricket boards, the two teams will be facing each other in a series of five T20I matches between September 11 and September 19.
All five matches will be hosted by the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The series will mark the first-ever T20I faceoff between the two women’s cricket teams.
Chamari Athapaththu to lead Sri Lanka in T20 World Cup 2026
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a strong 15-member Sri Lanka Women’s squad for the upcoming 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Legendary all-rounder Chamari Athapaththu will continue to lead the team, and she will be accompanied by fellow star performers Harshitha Samarawickrama, Vishmi Gunarathne and Kaveesha Dilhari among others.
Sri Lanka is placed in Group B of the tournament alongside England, New Zealand and West Indies.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi blasts 96 off 47 balls in record knock
Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi blasted 96 runs off just 47 balls against the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2026 season. The youngster completed 1,000 IPL runs in the process, becoming the fastest cricketer to do so in terms of number of balls faced.
Sooryavanshi’s innings also marked his third 90-plus score in his last four batting appearances, and the Royals mounted a colossal total of 214-6 in 20 overs after opting to bat first.
Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan steer Gujarat Titans to IPL 2026 final
Gujarat Titans pulverized Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets and eight balls to spare in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2026 season. The outcome helped the Titans qualify for the final, where they will face defending champions RCB in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Captain Shubman Gill made 104 off 53 balls, and prolific opener Sai Sudharsan listed 58 off 32 as the two in-form batters crafted a monumental 167-run partnership for the first wicket.
