Harry Brook Indirectly Demands RCB To Raise Jacob Bethell's Salary

Jacob Bethell unleashed a fighting 105 off just 48 balls for England in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup against India. Chasing 254 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium for a place in the final, the youngster plundered eight boundaries and seven huge sixes and kept England in the hunt up until the final over.

In spite of Bethell’s best efforts, the Englishmen fell seven runs short of their target to bow out of the competition. Regardless, the 22-year-old ‘star boy’ earned some deserving adulations from the crowd and from his captain Harry Brook for his electrifying knock. Brook even indirectly demanded the RCB franchise to raise the youngster’s salary, doing so just ahead of the upcoming IPL 2026 season.

Harry Brook predicts lucrative future for Jacob Bethell before IPL 2026

While speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, England captain Harry Brook praised young Jacob Bethell for his electrifying knock against India in the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The skipper also predicted a lucrative future for Bethell, thus indirectly demanding the RCB franchise to raise the youngster’s salary ahead of the upcoming IPL 2026 season.

Praising the 22-year-old England all-rounder, Harry Brook said “Jacob Bethell was absolutely unbelievable, he'll earn some serious money in his career.”

Jacob Bethell caps proficient T20 World Cup 2026 in India

Playing his first T20 World Cup, Jacob Bethell started off the ongoing 2026 edition with a match-winning 35-ball 55 against Nepal last month at the Wankhede Stadium. 

The youngster followed it up with a couple of 30s against West Indies and Scotland, and a swift 23 against Italy to aggregate 143 runs from England’s four Group C matches of the tournament.

While Jacob Bethell failed to go big in any of England’s three Super 8 fixtures in late-February, the left-handed top-order batter went ballistic against India in a semi-final chase of 254. 

The batting all-rounder ransacked the Indian bowlers with an electric 105 off 48 balls, but lack of assistance from others ensured England fell seven runs short of its target.

Overall, the youngster concluded the 2026 T20 World Cup in India with 280 runs to his name from just eight innings at an average of 35 and a strike rate of 152.17.

Jacob Bethell preps for RCB return in IPL 2026

Jacob Bethell is set to reprise his role for the RCB franchise in the upcoming IPL 2026 season. After playing just a couple of matches during his team’s title-winning run last year in IPL 2025, the youngster was retained by the franchise prior to the IPL 2026 auction.

While the 22-year-old was retained for a sum of Rs. 2.6 crore, his recent exploits for England may soon validate Harry Brook’s playful remark that Bethell is destined to earn “serious money” in his career.

In the upcoming IPL 2026, he will be joining his colleagues Virat Kohli, captain Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Romario Shepherd, Josh Hazlewood, Tim David, Bhuvneshwar Kumar among several others.
