A thrilling semi-final between IND vs ENG on the field
On the cricketing front, India delivered a powerful batting performance after England captain Harry Brook chose to bowl first.
Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson produced a sensational knock, smashing 89 runs off just 42 balls. His aggressive innings laid the foundation for India’s mammoth total of 253/7 in 20 overs.
Several Indian batters contributed with quick cameos, ensuring the scoreboard kept ticking at a rapid pace. However, the chase proved anything but easy for India.
England fought back strongly thanks to a remarkable innings from 22-year-old Jacob Bethell, who played one of the finest knocks of the tournament.
Bethell scored an incredible 105 off just 48 balls, keeping England alive in the chase until the final overs.
Despite his heroics, India held their nerve during the closing stages. Brilliant death bowling from Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, combined with an outstanding piece of fielding from Axar Patel, helped India seal a thrilling seven-run victory.
India will now face the New Zealand in the final on Sunday.
