Gurnoor Brar, the Indian fast bowler, revealed how Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma helped him and gave input during the difficult phase before the New Zealand ODI series. After a couple of difficult series, Brar found his groove and has been pivotal in the ongoing matches against the Kiwis.

After an impressive debut against Afghanistan, the tall pacer struggled against England and the West Indies before bouncing back in the ongoing series against New Zealand. He delivered a match-winning spell in the second ODI and helped India take a 2-0 lead.

How Kohli, Rohit helped Brar bounce back in the New Zealand series

Brar won the Man of the Match in the second ODI on Saturday, and speaking after the game, the right-arm pacer revealed how Kohli, Rohit, and even captain Shubman Gill helped him bounce back after a struggling phase.

The pacer looked underconfident after the West Indies matches, but he has been the leader of the Indian pace attack in the first two ODI matches so far.

"I had open nets with Virat and Rohit bhai, and they gave me a lot of inputs. Shubman also guided me," Gurnoor said in the post-match press conference.

"Matches in Guwahati and Lord's were demotivating, but it was important to learn from those experiences."

The pacer made his ODI debut in the home series against Afghanistan, and everything went according to plan. In three matches, he scalped 7 wickets, with an average of 19.43.

However, soon, his place in the team came under scrutiny as he leaked runs at a high economy rate on the England away tour and the West Indies home matches. Against England, he scalped 4 wickets in three games, but the economy rate was 7.76.

In the following series against the West Indies, Brar played three matches and picked up just 3 wickets as the Men in Maroon pushed India to its limit. There were doubts regarding his place in the ODI setup, but he managed to bounce back.

So far, in the two ODIs against the Kiwis, the fast bowler has grabbed 7 wickets, with an impressive average of 10.57, including a match-winning 4-wicket haul in the last game.
