Australian cricketer Ellyse Perry is a brilliant fielder, and the legendary player showcased her fielding skills during the WBBL match between arch-rivals, Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers, on Sunday.

Playing for the Sixers, Perry was a livewire on the field, and her brilliant throw from mid-on inflicted a brilliant run-out as opposition batter Anika Learoyd was sent packing at the non-striker's end.

Perry's direct throw ends Learoyd innings in WBBL match

The Thunder had lost Phoebe Litchfield early, and they needed a partnership to chase down 163 against the Sixers. Learoyd, who came in at number 3, looked solid as she quickly raced to 14 off 9 balls.

However, disaster struck in the 4th over, when she played a fuller-length ball towards the mid-on region and wanted a quick single.

To her surprise, Perry, who was situated at mid-on, was quick as she charged towards the ball, and aimed directly at the non-striker's end as her bullet throw hit the stumps.

The Thunder batter was marginally out of her crease, as Perry’s brilliant work on the field inflicted a run-out and helped the Sixers get a much-needed wicket.

Ellyse Perry continues her dream run in WBBL 2026

The 2026 WBBL tournament has belonged to the Australian great, as her all-round brilliance has helped the Sixers get to the top of the points table.

In the Sixers vs Thunder clash, the all-rounder played a crucial cameo with the bat as she scored 59 off 41 balls, with a strike rate of 143.90, and powered her team to a competitive 162-2 in the alloted 16 overs.

Not only in the Sydney derby, but Perry has been outstanding for her team throughout the tournament, and the stats reveal the story. She is the second-highest run-getter of WBBL 2026 (204) and sits only behind her teammate, Ashleigh Gardner.

The right-handed batter averages 102, strikes at 144.68, and has become a vital player for her team at the top. If the Sixers do go on to win the tournament, Perry’s role will be crucial as she remains their best batter, alongside the dangerous Gardner.
