Anshul Kamboj and CM Vijay taking oath [Source: AP and X]
As the Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants match is currently taking place at CSK's fortress, Chepauk, on May 10, a hilarious incident has now gone viral on the internet.
Notably, Anshul Kamboj, one of the mainstays with the ball for CSK this season, was rumoured to be present at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay's oath ceremony today.
While Anshul Kamboj is currently playing in the CSK vs LSG match and has also bowled two overs, rumours have been doing the rounds about him being present in person behind Joseph Vijay during the swearing-in ceremony.
What Is The Tamil Nadu CM Vijay-Anshul Kamboj Rumour?
Joseph Vijay, the founder and president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) political party, had an iconic swearing-in ceremony at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai at approximately 10 AM IST on Sunday.
The stadium was packed with thousands of supporters and fans as the actor-turned-politician ended nearly 60 years of dominance by the DMK and AIADMK.
The oath-taking ceremony went viral online, with people sharing and resharing videos of Vijay's iconic presence.
However, from that viral snippet, a Twitter user named Anvi Yadav pointed out an army personnel standing behind Vijay. Notably, the man standing behind the CM physically appeared to be Anshul Kamboj of the Chennai Super Kings.

Was Kamboj Really Present At CM Joseph Vijay’s Oath Ceremony?
The tweet by Anvi Yadav gained several reactions, with many also getting baffled by the originality of the post, where Anvi wrote that the guy standing behind Vijay in uniform is none other than Anshul Kamboj himself.
As per Yadav, the guy went to Vijay's CM post ceremony and then travelled to Chepauk to bowl.
“There's a match between CSK and LSG, but that guy standing in uniform in the white circle is none other than Anshul Kamboj, who also has a match starting at 3:30 PM. First, the guy went to Vijay's CM oath ceremony, then he'll rush from there to Chepauk, and then he'll bowl. That's why becoming CSK isn't easy, CSK is something else entirely,” the tweet read.
The army personnel actually had very similar facial features to Anshul Kamboj himself. He can be called a doppelganger or a lookalike of Kamboj. However, the personnel was not the actual cricketer Anshul Kamboj at all.
Kamboj has been training with the CSK camp since the evening of May 9, and there is absolutely no possibility for such a scenario to take place.
It looks like the X user simply made a sarcastic comment on Kamboj and the CSK cricket team ahead of the CSK vs LSG clash.
Anshul Kamboj Becomes The Highest Wicket-Taker Of IPL 2026 At A Cost
While Kamboj remains the highest wicket-taker of IPL 2026 alongside Kagiso Rabada, he has been on the expensive side. In the LSG clash too, from his two overs bowled, he has already given away 30 runs while taking only one wicket, that of Mitchell Marsh.
Josh Inglis, the returning batter for LSG, got the better of Anshul and has been super impressive. He completed his half-century in the match in just 17 deliveries after a woeful MI clash, where he scored only 13 runs before getting ruled out of the next matches due to a finger injury.
