Amid the BCCI's strict regulations regarding after-match behaviour and the lifestyle of cricketers, a viral social media video of Yuvraj Singh's father, Yograj Singh, has surfaced.
In the video, the cricket veteran's father was seen reprimanding Yuzvendra Chahal alongside Harpreet Brar. Yograj gave a fitting warden treatment to the Punjab Kings boys.
Chahal's Vaping And Yograj's Strict Discipline Saga
Notably, Chahal, who was found vaping on a team flight from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad earlier, had been criticised by former cricketers, with some even advocating that he should be jailed for the crime he allegedly committed.
Vaping is legally banned in India, and Chahal's actions after Riyan Parag's vaping saga further aggravated the case.
Yograj Singh has never shied away from speaking out about his old-school beliefs. He has repeatedly stated that modern players are too distracted by social media, late-night partying, and casual attitudes.

His recent admission was even more relatable. Yograj, while speaking to SportsTak, said that he can make an ideal side a champion if he is given full authority over their discipline and fitness routines.
He mainly emphasises a strict bedtime and wake-up routine along with relentless training. That was something which reflected in the video that the Punjab Kings posted on their social media account.
Yograj Singh Shouts At Yuzvendra Chahal To Stop Partying
The video showed Yograj firmly enforcing a no-party rule while scolding Yuzvendra Chahal and all-rounder Harpreet Brar vehemently as they were shepherded back to their rooms while partying.
The viral footage showed Yograj firmly directing Chahal and Brar away from a common area where they were dancing and driving them towards their quarters.
While the video is lighthearted, reactions were strong given the fact that Yuzvendra Chahal was just implicated in the vaping controversy days before this release.
PBKS Struggle With Form Amid Chahal’s Vaping Allegations
The strictness from Yograj also comes at a crucial juncture where the Punjab Kings have been slipping off. The team began IPL 2026 with a historic six-match unbeaten streak.
However, three consecutive defeats have exposed their fielding flaws and expensive bowling routines.
The team currently stands third with 13 points on the table, and the pressure to arrest the slide has now reached its peak.
Yograj Singh Shares Same View As BCCI
Yograj has always detested casual behaviour among cricketers, be it his own son, Yuvraj Singh or others.
The video was a reminder of how Yograj famously once threw away Yuvraj's skating shoes to force him to focus solely on cricket. Yograj also has a history with Abhishek Sharma, where he slammed the young SRH batter for making Instagram reels, calling it a waste of time.
This aligns with BCCI's newest and stricter guidelines for cricketers. Although BCCI does not have a separate anti-vaping policy, disciplinary violations fall under its code of conduct.
BCCI's Stance On Vaping
Players are forbidden from smoking or vaping in public view, on the field, in pubs, or during team travel. Since e-cigarettes were banned by the Indian government in 2019, the board considers any such incident as bringing the game into disrepute.
In that context, Yograj Singh's intervention in the viral video, however comical it appears, aligns squarely with the no-compromise attitude towards both minor and major violations.
Diverting the focus back to the race, Punjab Kings will look to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming clash against the Delhi Capitals on May 11 at the iconic Dharamshala stadium to further move up the ranks and possibly seal a top-two spot before the group stage ends.
