RCB, after dominating the first half of the season, have slipped slightly, losing two consecutive games. They return to home away from home as Raipur hosts IPL cricket after a decade-long wait.

Rajat Patidar’s men will look to regain momentum and keep their top-two hopes alive. Facing Mumbai Indians at their new home venue, they aim to replicate their earlier performance this season and make it two wins out of two against MI.

RCB vs MI Match 54- Preview

RCB set to host Mumbai Indians in Match 54 of IPL 2026 on Sunday, May 10th. The big-ticket clash will take place at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur and the action will go live for fans at 7:30 PM IST.

RCB are currently placed 4th on the points table with six wins and 12 points. A victory here could push them to the top, while Mumbai Indians, sitting 9th with just three wins from 10 games, must win every remaining match to stay in the tournament.

RCB Hope To See Josh Hazlewood Back To His Best

RCB need a win desperately to stay in top-two contention, hoping Raipur brings a change in fortunes. Statistically, the team is strong, but the form of Josh Hazlewood, key in previous away games, remains a concern.

Hazlewood has seven wickets this season outside Bengaluru, but only three came in three recent losses, with his economy going up to to 12.41.

Despite this, RCB’s pace attack ranks second-best in IPL 2026, with a bowling average of 26.08 and strike-rate of 15.9.

The batting is performing well, but RCB need Virat Kohli to stay longer. They have lost five of four games this season when Kohli was dismissed inside the powerplay. Jacob Bethell also needs runs, managing just 43 in four innings so far.

Mumbai Indians Seek Bowling Revival

Mumbai Indians have gained a major boost with Rohit Sharma’s return from injury. Together with Ryan Rickelton, they form one of IPL 2026’s most destructive batting pairs, scoring at 12.19 runs per over, giving MI hope at the crease.

However, MI’s bowling has been a major concern. Their pace attack has the worst bowling average this season at 52.28 with an economy of 10.93, a stark contrast to RCB’s lethal pace unit, leaving the bowlers under pressure against top-ranked batting lineups.

Jasprit Bumrah has struggled this season, claiming only three wickets in 10 games. He conceded 45 and 54 in two of the last three matches, showing the issue isn’t just wickets but overall control, which MI urgently need to improve against RCB.

Possible Changes

Will RCB drop Jacob Bethell vs MI?

Jacob Bethell has been poor at the top but until and unless Phil Salt returns, the left-hander is unlikely to get drop and will most surely be part of RCB's playing XI vs MI.

Will Hardik Pandya play in RCB vs MI?

Hardik Pandya missed MI's last match due to back spasm and is unlikely to return to MI's playing XI vs RCB.

What To Expect?

This is the first IPL match in Raipur after ten years. The last time, RCB played here and won, powered by a Virat Kohli masterclass. Fans can expect an exciting return to this historic venue.

Raipur is generally a two-paced surface, but a fresh wicket this time could see plenty of runs. Combined with the large dimensions of the ground, it is likely to favor RCB’s powerful batting and diverse bowling attack.

Mumbai Indians are expected to play without Hardik Pandya, weakening their all-round options. RCB’s balanced squad, strong bowling attack make them favorites, and MI may struggle to keep up in this encounter.
