She wrote “This summer is going to be my last playing professional cricket. It’s incredibly hard to imagine ever saying goodbye to playing the sport that has been such a huge part of my life and shaped me into the person I am today. But, the final chapter is in sight.”
Cross added “I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to play the game I love professionally and get to do it at the highest level. But I’m even more fortunate to have met the people I have along the way. I have memories that will last a lifetime which I’ll forever be thankful for.”
The England fast bowler also thanked her fans and supporters for supporting her throughout her professional playing career.
Kate Cross concluded “I’m so grateful for the journey I have had in cricket and although I have a few more games to play and so many things I would like to say, for now I’d just like to thank each and every one of you who has supported me and made it all possible.”
When exactly will Kate Cross retire?
As per her official retirement post, Kate Cross stated that she will be bowing out of the game at the end of the ongoing English summer.
The England cricket team is currently scheduled to take on a visiting Ireland Women’s side in a three-match ODI series between September 1 and September 6. Cross, however, was not selected in the England squad for the series.
Moreover, the English speedster has not been considered for national selection since July 2025 last year. With Cross already struggling to make her way into England’s international set-up, there is a strong possibility that the world has already seen the last of her in action.
She recently played The Hundred Women’s 2026 season for the Sunrisers Leeds, picking up four wickets in nine innings of the tournament.
