A major controversy broke out during an India vs England cricket match. The incident occurred in an Over60s World Cup match between the two sides at the Teramoto Park Cricket Ground in Ontario, Canada.

The moment in contention features an England batter refusing to walk off the field despite getting adjudged by the on-field umpire. The player’s unsporting act even halted the cricket match by more than 15 minutes, leaving players and match officials visibly in frustration.

What exactly happened in India vs England Over60s World Cup match?

India and England cricket teams took on each other in match number 31 of the Over60s World Cup 2026 in Ontario, Canada on Monday, August 17 earlier this week.

In the first ball of the 20th over of the England innings upfront, England batter Temoor Alam was struck on his pad. Indian left-arm spinner Mayank Khandwala raised the appeal and the on-field umpire instantly adjudged Temoor ‘out’.

However, the England batter refused to walk off the field, claiming that he had got bat on the ball. Temoor Alam’s refusal to walk left both, the umpires and the Indian players surprised on the field, and it prompted a huge delay in the proceedings.

With batter not walking back to the pavilion, Indian players surrounded the two on-field umpires who were left to discuss with each other.

Players eventually left the field for a while, and one commentator stated that the square leg umpire was of the opinion that the England batter had indeed hit the ball with his bat. After more than 15 minutes of uncertainty, Temoor Alam was adjudged ‘not out’ and he resumed his innings at 30*.
