England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has now given a fresh injury scare to the ECB just ahead of the upcoming 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. After getting ruled out of England’s home ODI series against New Zealand owing to her injury concern, the legendary all-rounder is also ruled out of her team’s upcoming T20I fixtures against the ‘White Ferns’ and the Indian cricket team.

As of now, Nat Sciver-Brunt is facing a race against time to be fit for the ICC showpiece event at home next month. The 33-year-old last played any form of international cricket for England Women back during the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India.

Nat Sciver-Brunt tore her left calf while playing for the Blaze Women in the 2026 ECB Women's One-Day Cup late last month. Since then, the cricketer has been ruled out of England’s upcoming ODI series, as well as from the T20Is against the ‘White Ferns’ and the visiting Indian team.

Initially, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) were reportedly hopeful of Nat’s return for the T20I fixtures against New Zealand and India, considering they form a part of England’s home warm-up before the 2026 T20 World Cup.

However, after the scans, it has been confirmed that the 33-year-old will now require a longer period of rehabilitation, thus putting her in an unwanted race against time to regain full fitness for the showpiece event.

When Nat Sciver-Brunt skipped England’s training camp

A couple of months ago back in March this year, the England Women’s skipper also returned home midway from her team’s training camp in South Africa.

The cricketer was originally selected in a 30-member group that toured South Africa to play a series of five intra-squad matches. The series constituted a major part of England’s training for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.

However, at the time, it was revealed that the skipper had returned home from South Africa citing “personal reasons.”

A couple of weeks ago, the ECB unveiled a strong 15-player squad for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The board named regular skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt as team captain, unaware at the time that an untimely injury setback would soon cast serious doubt over her participation in the marquee tournament. Here is a look at the England Women’s squad for the showpiece event.
