Delhi Capitals crumbled to yet another defeat this IPL 2026 season, this time against the KKR franchise at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The outcome marked Capitals’ second successive defeat this tournament, and also there seventh loss in the past nine games to fall to the brink of a certain elimination from the season’s playoffs race.
While it is still mathematically possible for the Delhi Capitals to make it to the top four, team captain Axar Patel has now made a shocking and a discouraging remark after their latest drubbing against KKR.

Delhi Capitals IPL 2026 journey and playoffs scenario
It is worth noting that under the leadership of Axar Patel, the Delhi Capitals franchise started off with confident wins against LSG and Mumbai Indians in their first two games of the tournament.
However, their campaign took a turn for the worse ever since David Miller confidently denied a single to tailender Kuldeep Yadav during their tight last-over finish against the Gujarat Titans. Miller’s reluctance costed his team the match by one run, which also ended up dismantling their winning momentum this IPL 2026 season.
After winning the first two matches, the franchise has since lost seven out of its next nine games, and is currently ranked eighth on the IPL 2026 points table. With four wins and seven defeats from 11 matches, the Capitals are also holding a dismal NRR of -1.154.
Fans of the franchise can still hope for a miracle in a bid to qualify for the playoffs. To do so, the team needs to win each of its remaining three matches with emphatic margins, and also hope for certain exterior results to go their way.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals managed just 142-8 from 20 overs upfront. Pathum Nissanka slapped a fiery 29-ball 50 amidst tumbling wickets to get his side off to a flier.
However, wicket-taking spells by Anukul Roy (2-31) and Kartik Tyagi (2-25) tilted the tide back in KKR’s favour. Moreover, Capitals skipper Axar Patel played a sluggish knock of just 11 from 22 balls at number six.
In response, KKR bulldozed Delhi Capitals bowlers to storm past their 143-run target with eight wickets and 34 balls to spare. Blistering opener Finn Allen blasted 100* runs from just 47 balls with five boundaries and 10 sixes to make lightwork of the hosts.
