When Did David Warner Announce His Retirement From International Cricket?

David Warner officially ended his international career in stages during 2024. He first retired from ODI cricket after Australia’s successful ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. His final ODI appearance came in the World Cup final against India on November 19, 2023, in Ahmedabad.

Warner finished his ODI career with 6,932 runs from 161 matches while maintaining an impressive strike rate of 97.26.

His retirement from Test cricket came after Australia’s home series against Pakistan in January 2024. Warner played his last Test during that series and ended his red-ball career with 8,786 runs in 112 matches at an average of 44.59.

His final international appearance came in June 2024 during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

When Did Warner Last Play Professional Cricket?

David Warner’s latest appearance came in the Pakistan Super League 2026, where he represented the Karachi Kings. He made 256 runs in seven innings at an average of 51.20 and an impressive strike rate of 147.98.

However, the tournament was followed by legal trouble back in Australia. In April 2026, Warner was charged with a drink and drive offence in Sydney.

According to police, the incident happened in the suburb of Maroubra. Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached Warner's van after it stopped just before a random breath-testing checkpoint on Malabar Road.

A roadside breath test returned a positive result, following which he was taken to Maroubra Police Station.

Police alleged that Warner recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.104, more than twice the legal limit for fully licensed drivers in New South Wales. He was charged with a mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol offence.
