BCCI Confirms Full IPL 2026 Schedule Date (Source: IPL.com)
The highly anticipated full IPL 2026 schedule, set to be released by the BCCI, will soon be made public. While 20 matches have been announced so far for IPL 2026, which will begin on March 28, fans have been eagerly waiting to see the rest of the fixtures, which will be 54 in number.
Even though there were rumours that IPL 2026 would have 84 matches, it was later confirmed that it wouldn’t have more than 74 this year. It has been the story since IPL 2022, when two new teams – Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans – made their debuts to expand the competition to 10 teams.
When Will The Full IPL 2026 Schedule Be Officially Out?
Now the question of the hour is, when will fans get to know the full IPL 2026 schedule? The BCCI has finally given the answer, and it was Cricbuzz who broke the news.
The BCCI has formally told all 10 IPL franchises that they won’t take much time to unveil the full IPL 2026 schedule. It should be officially announced within 72-96 hours, and to avoid confusion, they have also informed the franchises that it will be a 74-match competition.
"The IPL has informed the franchises that the remaining schedule will take 3–4 days to finalise. First 20 fixtures (till April 12) announced; 54 matches still to be slotted. The season, of course, kicks off on March 28," Vijay Tagore, one of the veterans from Cricbuzz, tweeted on Sunday.

Why Did BCCI Not Announce The Full IPL 2026 Schedule?
Earlier, the BCCI announced a 20-match IPL 2026 schedule running from March 28 to April 12. It was due to the Assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Back then, the dates were not formally confirmed by the Election Commission of India.
With Assam’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium, West Bengal’s Eden Gardens and Tamil Nadu’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium set to host IPL 2026 matches, the BCCI had no choice but to delay full IPL 2026 schedule.
When Was IPL 2025 Schedule Window?
IPL 2025 had 74 matches, which began on March 22 and ended on June 3. It began with KKR, the then defending champions, taking on the now reigning champions, RCB, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Notably, IPL 2025 did not have any matches between May 8 and May 16 due to alarming India-Pakistan tensions. This time, it should not be that long, as no interruptions are likely to happen when the upcoming edition of the cricket’s biggest T20 league will light up India.
This year, IPL will begin with RCB taking on star-studded SRH on March 28, with the season opener scheduled to take place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
