PSL 2026 updated schedule released [Source: X]
In the latest development, the Pakistan Super League has released its updated scheduling following the decision that PSL 2026 matches will only take place in Karachi and Lahore due to the ongoing fuel shortage, which won’t allow the fans to travel to different parts of the nation.
Earlier, the league was set to be played across six cities, including Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Karachi, and Lahore, but now, four venues have been scrapped, with just two left. The match schedule remains the same, with no tweaks made by the PCB, and only the venues have been altered in the PSL updated schedule.
The tournament will commence on March 26, and will conclude on May 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Why PSL 2026 schedule was changed
PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, held an emergency meeting on Sunday, and he stated that due to the fuel shortage in the entire country, travelling from one city to another may not be feasible for everyone, and hence, to restrict travel, PSL 2026 matches will only take place in two venues, and all the games will be played behind closed doors.
The US-Israel-Iran war has hampered the entire world, and Pakistan is no different. At the centre of the disruption is the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints. The narrow passage carries around a quarter of global seaborne oil, and that passage has been blocked by Iran, triggering immediate reaction in the global market.
PCB chief, Naqvi, also mentioned that postponement of PSL was never in mind as it is a global brand, and foreign players are involved in it.
"We don’t know how long the current situation will persist, but hosting the PSL is essential. It's an international brand, and foreign players are involved... if we had postponed the PSL, there would be no window later to hold it," Naqvi stated.

PSL threatens overseas players
The start of the PSL 2026 hangs in jeopardy as several foreign players have decided to boycott the league due to the ongoing geopolitical tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The two countries are at war, and numerous players have pulled out of the league.
Also, some of the overseas players have ditched the PSL and have joined the IPL. Stars like Blessing Muzarabani, Dasun Shanaka, and Spencer Johnson (reportedly) have left the league to play in the IPL.
With multiple players leaving the PSL before the start, Naqvi has threatened them, stating that legal action could be taken against overseas stars who have left the PSL for the IPL.
"We will take action against those players according to the rules. There was a case last year too [referring to Corbin Bosch, who was banned from the PSL for one year], and the same thing will happen this time," Mohsin Naqvi told reporters, as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
PSL players who left the league before the start
Not one, not two, but numerous players have decided to leave the league even before it has started. Afghanistan star, Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the first one, and a trend started with a plethora of stars abandoning the PSL.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz (PZ), Gudakesh Motie (LQ), Blessing Muzarabani (IU), Ottneil Baartman (HHK), Tymal Mills (PZ), Spencer Johnson (QG), Johnson Charles (KK), Dasun Shanaka (LQ) have left the tournament.
While a few of them have left for personal reasons, the likes of Muzarabani, and Shanaka have joined IPL franchises, as they have received more money.
