PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi left everyone in shock on Sunday with a major announcement regarding PSL 2026. It significantly impacted all PSL teams, and one of their owners could not help venting his frustrations on social media.

A few weeks ago, CD Ventures chief Gohar Shah bought the Sialkot Stallionz franchise and rebranded it to Multan Sultans. CD Ventures has the majority stake in the newly-introduced PSL franchise, which was previously bought by OZ Developers for PKR 1.85 billion at the PSL auction in January.

As revealed earlier, Gohar Shah himself wanted to change the name to Multan Sultans, and therefore, the changes to PSL 2026 announced by Mohsin Naqvi left him dissatisfied.

Gohar Shah Expresses Anger At Mohsin Naqvi

Right after Naqvi’s announcement on PSL 2026, Shah took to Twitter (now known as X) to tell the world what was going on in his mind. There, he dropped a long note, and more importantly, highlighted what could be the repercussions of the latest developments of the PSL, which will now be happening in closed doors and across two venues only.

Under ‘Things we would’ve liked’ section, Shah wrote, “...for my fellow stakeholders to be compensated for the financial losses due to the constrained nature of the tournament (see latest pcb announcement of no crowds and 2 venues).”

Even though Mohsin Naqvi assured that the PSL franchises will receive compensation for losses incurred, they were heavily impacted by the absence of spectators during live matches.

However, it will not be enough, according to Gohar Shah, who highlighted all his pointers from the perspective of Pakistan and Pakistan cricket.

How Will PSL 2026 Happen After Mohsin Naqvi Press Conference?

As Naqvi's press conference became the talking point on Sunday, everyone was interested in how PSL 2026 would happen.

Thankfully, apart from closed-door PSL 11 and the tournament being played across only two venues instead of the original six, nothing much will change when the tournament gets underway on March 26.

Nevertheless, not all the support staff will be eligible to join their respective PSL teams, as Naqvi mentioned the importance of the fuel crisis in Pakistan.

Multan Sultans PSL Schedule

New-look Multan Sultans will begin their PSL journey on March 28, the same day IPL 2026 kicks off. They will face Islamabad United in Match 4 of PSL 2026.

Initially, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium was scheduled to host the Multan vs Islamabad match. It might still be the same venue, though the PCB is yet to confirm where the updated venues will be after recent announcements made by Naqvi.

In the same tweet, Shah also highlighted the fact that they would have liked to play in Multan, especially in front of their ardent fans. The practice sessions has now been limited as well, and Shah did not like the development either.
