In a significant development, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Amzad Hossain made an important decision after he was removed from his position as chairman of the BCB media committee.
This decision came shortly after the board announced changes in leadership roles within the committee. As a result, the situation quickly became a major topic in Bangladesh cricket administration.
Major changes in Bangladesh Cricket Board
In recent times, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has been going through several major changes. For example, last week the BCB appointed former national captain Habibul Bashar as chairman of a newly formed four-member selection panel.
Furthermore, Bashar will lead the new selection panel, which has been expanded from three members to four members, as confirmed by the BCB.
Meanwhile, another important change took place on March 22. The BCB announced through a press release that board director Md Mokhsedul Kamal would become the new chairman of the Media and Communications Committee. Previously, Kamal served as the vice-chairman, while Amzad Hossain was leading the committee.
The decision was implemented on March 22, and then on the very next day, March 23, Amzad stepped down from his position as a BCB director. This quick sequence of events made the situation more significant and drew attention to internal developments within the board.
Notably, Amzad Hossain resigned in protest after being removed from his position as chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board media committee.

BCB issues official statement
The Bangladesh Cricket Board explained the leadership change in an official statement.
"Mr Kamal, who previously served as the Vice Chairman of the committee, succeeds Amzad Hussain, who had been carrying out the responsibility since October 2025," BCB said in a statement.
Amzad also shared his reaction after resigning from the board.
"I am not sure why I was withdrawn from my post (as BCB media committee chairman) and what my shortcomings are as they only said they have decided to replace me and later decided to resign from the board. You can say my resignation is my protest," said Amzad as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Amzad Hussain raises concerns about election participation
Amzad did not directly criticize the controversial BCB election. However, he did express some concerns about participation in the election process. He explained that he was not aware of many recent developments since he had been out of the country for about 10 days.
These developments included BCB’s warning to the National Sports Council regarding the formation of an investigation committee looking into election irregularities.
He also spoke about participation in elections and transparency.
"In previous times, there were representatives from many Premier League clubs. This time there are fewer. Many candidates withdrew from the election. That perhaps did not happen before. In terms of participation, it might have been more transparent," he said.
"That could have been better. Perhaps it could have been more transparent. This can happen in any election. Even in powerful countries, elections are questioned. It is an ongoing process. I was not in touch with anyone. I cannot say what happened," said Amzad.
It is important to note that Amzad Hossain is the second director of the current BCB board to resign. Earlier, Ishtiaque Sadeque had stepped down from the board citing personal reasons. With Amzad’s resignation, the number of BCB directors has now dropped to 23.
