In a significant development, Cricket Australia announced a robust 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan.

The Australia ODI squad vs Pakistan includes young batting sensation Oliver Peake, who led the Australian contingent in the recently held Under-19 World Cup.

The squad also sees the return of Riley Meredith and Billy Stanlake, with Cricket Australia resting the decorated IPL quartet of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood.

Prominent IPL names miss out on Australia ODI squad vs Pakistan

Four high-profile players- Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood- have been excluded from the Australia ODI squad vs Pakistan.

As these players are currently playing in the IPL, the Australian selection committee has rested them from the Pakistan tour, which commences towards the business end of the IPL.

Additionally, Sunrisers Hyderabad, the team Travis Head and Pat Cummins play for, has a strong chance of reaching the IPL final, scheduled for May 31. Therefore, this move is aimed at managing their workload ahead of a hectic international calendar.

Mitchell Marsh To Lead, Oliver Peake gets maiden call up

Led by Mitchell Marsh, Australia will cross swords against Pakistan across three ODIs. Although the Australia ODI squad Vs Pakistan sees the absence of Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood, several experienced players have been included to give the team a formidable look.

Oliver Peake was one of the most prolific performers in the 2026 U19 World Cup, amassing 234 runs, including two tons, at an average of 78.

As the Aussies begin their preparations for the 2027 World Cup, Peake's addition to the team is meant to give him exposure to international cricket.

With Travis Head absent, Josh Inglis, Alex Carey, Cameron Green and Matthew Renshaw are expected to spearhead the Australian batting unit with Marsh and Marnus Labuschagne.

Meredith, Stanlake return to Australian ODI setup

Talking about their bowling department, Meredith and Billy Stanlake will be two key players to watch out for.

Stanlake was impressive in the Australian One-Day Cup, scalping seven wickets at a healthy strike rate of 28. The fast bowler played his last ODI back in 2019, and, therefore, he would be keen to make the most of his comeback after a seven-year hiatus.

Riley Meredith, on the other hand, played his only ODI game during the Australian team's tour of West Indies in 2021. He was magnificent in the Sheffield Shield competition, scalping 30 wickets in ten innings.

The Australia ODI squad vs Pakistan also includes Nathan Ellis, who was ruled out of the IPL 2026. The seasoned campaigner was sidelined from the tournament due to a hamstring injury, eventually being replaced by his countryman, Spencer Johnson.

Veteran cricketer Adam Zampa will lead the Australian spin department alongside Tanveer Sangha and Matthew Kuhnemann.
