The RCB franchise secured a thrilling win over familiar rivals Mumbai Indians in match 54 of the IPL 2026 season. Chasing 167, Rajat Patidar and co. pulled off a last-ball heist to seal the two points on offer in Raipur.

The outcome catapulted RCB to the top of the IPL 2026 points table, surpassing SRH, Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings at a single stroke. Yet to officially confirm a place in the playoffs, here is a look at RCB’s entire scenario for making it among the top four sides by the end of the league stage.

How can RCB qualify for IPL 2026 playoffs?

RCB is comfortably placed at the top of the IPL 2026 points table. By recording seven wins against just four defeats from 11 matches, the franchise has accumulated 14 points so far, putting them on levelling terms with the SRH and Gujarat Titans.

However, RCB’s NRR of 1.103 marks the strongest among all sides this tournament to warrant a place at the top.

In spite of holding a positive momentum, the franchise is yet to book a place in the season’s playoff race. In a bid to finish the league stage among the top four sides of the season, Rajat Patidar and co. need to win just one of its remaining three matches, as it will get them to 16 points.

Traditionally, 16 points has proven to be enough for a top four finish ever since the IPL became a 74-match event in 2022. However, RCB will try to push its claim in securing a top two finish. In such a case, the defending champions will need to win at least two of its remaining three matches, if not all three.

The franchise can reach a maximum of 20 points by winning all their remaining games.

It is worth noting that even if RCB loses all three matches, the franchise can still make it to the playoffs as the fourth team with 14 points. Only once in IPL history has a team qualified for the playoffs with 14 points in a 74-match season, with RCB themselves doing so back in 2024 on the basis of NRR.

With RCB’s current NRR also making for an impressive read, fans of the franchise can breathe easy as a place in the playoffs is in the reckoning.

What are RCB’s remaining games of IPL 2026?

As per the IPL 2026 schedule, the RCB franchise still has three matches remaining in the league stage of the tournament. One of those matches will be a home fixture in Raipur on May 13. Here is a look at the remaining schedule for the RCB franchise this season.
