Australia’s Previous ODI Tour Of Pakistan
Furthermore, this upcoming series will be Australia’s first ODI tour of Pakistan since March and April 2022.
During that earlier visit, Australia played 3 Tests, 1 T20I and 3 ODIs against Pakistan. Although Australia won the Test series 1-0, Pakistan performed better in the ODI format and won the three-match series 2-1.
Pakistan’s Dominance In The T20I Series
Earlier this year, Australia toured Pakistan in January and February for a three-match T20I series. However, the series did not go well for the Australian team because Pakistan completely dominated the competition.
The hosts won all three matches and secured a 3-0 clean sweep at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. As a result, Australia will be eager to bounce back and deliver a better performance in the upcoming Pakistan vs Australia ODI matches.
In addition, Australia also played in Pakistan during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. One of their most notable performances came on 22 February, when they defeated England by five wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

IPL 2026 Might Affect Australia’s ODI Squad
Meanwhile, the Pakistan vs Australia ODI schedule is going to clash with the IPL 2026 playoffs and final, which were recently announced by the BCCI. Because of this, several Australian players may not be available for the Pakistan tour.
According to Cricket Australia, ODI captain Pat Cummins, along with star bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, are unlikely to feature in the series. Additionally, Travis Head may also skip the tour in order to focus on Australia’s upcoming Test series against Bangladesh later this year.
On the other hand, Mitchell Marsh could return as Australia’s ODI captain for the Pakistan series. Currently, Marsh is playing for LSG in the IPL 2026. However, since the team has struggled badly this season and lost several matches, their chances of reaching the playoffs appear very low.
As a result, Marsh may become available for Pakistan vs Australia ODI series. Similarly, Josh Inglis, who is also part of LSG, could take over leadership responsibilities if required.
Meanwhile, experienced players such as Alex Carey, Adam Zampa, and Marnus Labuschagne are expected to be included in Australia’s ODI squad. In addition, fast bowler Nathan Ellis has recovered from a hamstring injury and may return to action during the series.
