The Asian Legends League has unveiled its official trophy for the upcoming second season on March 22 in Rudrapur. The ceremony was attended by several former cricketers as well as ex-IPL stars like Thisara Perera, Asghar Afghan, Rishi Dhawan and Angelo Perera.

Speaking at the event, former Sri Lanka all-rounder and T20 globe-trotter Thisara Perera expressed his excitement for the new season. The 2014 T20 World Cup winning cricketer said “We had a really nice season previously, and it was a great experience being part of such a competitive and well-organized league. I am truly excited for the upcoming season as well. The level of cricket, the camaraderie among players, and the passion from fans make this league special.”
Former Punjab Kings all-rounder Rishi Dhawan praised fans and followers of the league, and expected them to showcase the same love and support to the competing players this time around as well. He said “The fans have always supported us tremendously, especially the Indian side, and that energy makes a big difference on the field. Hopefully, we will continue to receive the same kind of love and encouragement this season as well.”
Asian Legends League gets a launch date
The Asian Legends League event in Rudrapur also confirmed that the upcoming second season will commence on June 2 later this year. Five of the six competing teams will return for the tournament’s second chapter, namely the Indian Royals, Sri Lankan Lions, Afghanistan Pathans, Asian Stars, and Bangladesh Tigers. The Pakistan Panthers will be making their debut this time around.
Incidentally, the inaugural season of the Asian Legends League was held in March last year, thereby creating a brief gap before the competition resumes with its much-anticipated second edition.
It is worth noting that earlier this year, several reports claimed that the second Asian Legends League season will be played between January 19 and February 1 before it was postponed by the officials.
What happened in Asian Legends League last year?
The Asian Stars team, under the leadership of Mehran Khan, won the inaugural Asian Legends League season last year in March. Taking on the Indian Royals in the final at the Miraj International Cricket Stadium in Udaipur, Rishi Dhawan’s all-round performance steered the Legends to a comfortable six-wicket win with five balls to spare.
Interestingly, the Indian Royals lost the title after finishing the opening round at the top of the five-team points table. Sri Lankan Lions and Afghanistan Pathans had their confident runs curtailed in the playoffs.
