Nitish Kumar Reddy might have unknowingly angered some Indian selectors with his latest remarks during his conversation with newly-appointed interim captain Ishan Kishan. During an SRH event prior to the upcoming IPL 2026 season, the two young Indian cricketers were involved in a hilarious conversation with each other at a time when the show host was engaged in a rapid-fire round with Reddy.

The Indian all-rounder, who is currently a part of India’s Test side, surprisingly picked T20Is over Test cricket, before preferring ODIs over T20Is to create even more chaos on stage. Ishan Kishan jokingly reminded Nitish Kumar Reddy that he needs to pick Tests over any other format since the Indian selectors “are probably listening”.

SRH fans erupt as Nitish Reddy, Ishan Kishan trigger laugh riot

During an SRH event ahead of the upcoming IPL 2026 season, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was asked a series of rapid-fire questions by the show’s host. The host began by asking Reddy to choose between Tests and T20Is.

Much to everyone’s surprise, the 22-year-old picked T20Is as his preferred format. His captain and SRH teammate Ishan Kishan quickly chimed in, jokingly reminding Reddy that he is part of India’s Test side and that the selectors might be listening to his answers.

The conversation later shifted to Reddy’s bowling, with Ishan playfully mocking his all-rounder credentials. However, Reddy was quick to fire back, reminding the crowd that he had bowled a maiden over to Kishan just a day earlier, likely during an intra-squad or training session. The light-hearted exchange between the two cricketers sparked a laugh riot among other SRH members as well as among the crowd in attendance.

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s India career at a glance

Nitish Kumar Reddy has represented Team India across all three formats. However, the 22-year-old has not featured in a T20I for the national side since January last year, during India’s home series against England.

He was selected in the Indian squad for the ODI series against New Zealand at home a couple of months ago and continues to remain a regular member of India’s Test XI. To date, Nitish Kumar Reddy has played 10 Tests, four ODIs, and four T20Is since making his international debut in October 2024.

Reddy’s recent remarks about preferring T20Is over Tests were clearly made in jest and are unlikely to have any impact on his red-ball career going forward.
