Pakistan cricketers are currently facing a cloud of uncertainty over their participation in the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2026 season.
While the season is set to commence from October 26 onwards, several Pakistan players are yet to receive their no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
As per a report, even the Pakistan cricketers who have received their NOCs have been instructed that their permission to play NPL 2026 has now been put on hold.
Pakistan players in doubt for NPL 2026
As reported by Cricinfo, the PCB is yet to grant the NOCs to several Pakistan players from participating in the upcoming NPL 2026 season. Moreover, the board has also instructed Pakistan players to put their availability for the tournament on hold.
The report further states that the PCB is asking for a fee in the region of USD 25,000 in exchange of the NOC for each player. However, the report cannot confirm if the board had requested the same in writing.
It is worth noting that several Pakistan players are already in Kathmandu for NPL 2026 fixtures. Other players who were set to take flight for Nepal have reportedly delayed their plans until the PCB issue is resolved.
Just earlier this year, the PCB introduced a new central contract structure that helped the board distinguish between white-ball and red-ball cricket players.
Under the Track D category of the contract structure, where players are designated as T20 specialists, such players had freedom to play as many T20 leagues in the world, if those leagues are not coinciding with Pakistan’s international cricket.
Even in such a case, none of the Pakistan players signed up for NPL 2026 have any Test or ODI plans with the Pakistan cricket team.
Which Pakistan players are signed up for NPL 2026
Several Pakistan cricketers are signed up to play the upcoming NPL 2026 season in Nepal. Pakistan’s T20I captain and explosive opening batter Sahibzada Farhan is perhaps the most popular of the group to take part in the tournament.
Some of the other Pakistan players are Haider Ali, Hunain Shah, Hussain Talat, Iftikhar Ahmed, Hasan Ali and Usama Mir.
The NPL 2026 season will be played between October 26 and November 21 in Kirtipur.
