In a recent development, KS Bharat, the former Indian wicketkeeper-batter who was initially signed by the Nepal Premier League franchise Kathmandu Gurkhas, has now withdrawn from the tournament.
The cricketer was benched for the first two games of the season and was yet to be slipped into the Playing XI. Now, amid the ongoing season, as per a report, KS Bharat is set to leave the tournament and join another overseas league.
KS Bharat set to play for Emirates Eagles in Abu Dhabi T10
As per a report from T20 Tracker, KS Bharat, who was signed up for the Abu Dhabi T10 league back in September, will feature for Emirates Eagles. Notably, this will be his debut stint in the tournament, with NPL 2026 signing being also his first in his cricketing career of 13 years.
The Abu Dhabi T10 league has officially been running since 2017, and the 2026 season will be the 10th edition of the tournament featuring six teams. The 10-over per side clashes are highly intense battles that will have their curtain-raiser on November 7, 2026.
Eagles will be playing their opening clash against Desert Champions on November 7 itself, with their last group stage fixture on November 13. The team will have the wicketkeeping and middle-order batting expertise of KS Bharat alongside international firepowers like Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, Trent Boult, Rehan Ahmed, among others.
Alongside Bharat, Sri lanka’s Kusal Perera and Toby Albert have also been signed up for the T10 tournament in the Eagles squad.
How is KS Bharat’s recent form?
Once regarded as a replacement for MS Dhoni in CSK, KS Bharat’s recent form hasn’t been up to the mark. The cricketer last played in the Global T20 League representing Brampton Blazers and averaged only 13.75 with the bat. His innings read scores of 2, 15, 0, 6, 4.
In the Afghanistan Premier League, though, Bharat made his mark with scores of 76 and 93, averaging 34.50. Speaking of his home tournament, in the IPL, Bharat last featured in 2022 for Delhi Capitals, scoring 8 runs from 2 matches.
Unfortunately, the cricketer was up for bid at the IPL 2026 auction at a base price of INR 75 lakhs but went unsold.
