The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, which will begin on July 14. The series comes after India's successful 3-0 ODI sweep against Afghanistan.
The biggest highlights of the squad announcement is the return of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Kohli missed the Afghanistan ODI series due to a hamstring injury suffered during the IPL 2026 final, while Bumrah was rested.
However, Kohli’s participation in the England series will depend on receiving fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team.
Another major talking point is the absence of star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, whose rehabilitation process is still ongoing. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill will lead the ODI side, with Shreyas Iyer serving as vice-captain.
Here is a look at the IPL team-wise representation in India's squad for England ODI series.

Shubman Gill
India’s ODI captain, Shubman Gill, enjoyed an outstanding IPL 2026 season with Gujarat Titans. He led the franchise to the final and scored 732 runs in 16 innings, including one century and six fifties.

Gurnoor Brar
Gurnoor Brar is one of the most exciting young players in India's squad for England ODIs. Despite not playing a single IPL match for Gujarat Titans in 2026, he impressed immediately after making his ODI debut against Afghanistan.
The tall fast bowler picked up seven wickets in three matches and earned selection for a second consecutive ODI series for India.
Delhi Capitals (3 players)
KL Rahul
KL Rahul enjoyed a remarkable IPL season for Delhi Capitals, scoring 593 runs at an average of 45.62 and a strike rate of 174.41. He remains one of India's most dependable middle-order batters and will want to continue his good form against England.

Jasprit Bumrah's return is one of the biggest positives for India. The star fast bowler has not played an ODI since the 2023 World Cup final due to fitness concerns.
Although he endured a difficult IPL 2026 season, India will be hoping that a fully fit Bumrah can once again lead the pace attack.
Kolkata Knight Riders (1 player)
Harshit Rana
Harshit Rana was likely expected to make a comeback after recovering from a serious knee injury during the Afghanistan series; he was also added to the 3rd ODI but was not included in the playing XI.
However, he was also ruled out of the IPL 2026 earlier.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (1 player)
Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli's return is undoubtedly the biggest headline from the squad announcement. The former India captain has been recovering from a hamstring injury suffered during the IPL final and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
