1) Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer had an impressive IPL 2025 as the Punjab Kings captain. The PBKS star helped his team to qualify for the IPL finals for the first time since 2014. The franchise witnessed a downfall in IPL 2026, but Shreyas impressed the BCCI selectors with his captaincy as he was appointed the new India T20I captain.

While some supported the decision, others were baffled that Iyer had replaced a World Cup-winning captain (Suryakumar Yadav). His decision-making was criticised in IPL 2026, and hence, Iyer needs to prove his worth in the upcoming T20Is as the captain.

Performing in IPL is one thing, and delivering for India is another, and hence, the question arises: Can Iyer replicate the IPL performance for India?

Moreover, he has average numbers for India in T20Is, and he’ll be eager to change the statistics and prove his doubters wrong.

2) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

To no one’s surprise, the teenage prodigy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, was picked for the tour of Ireland and England, and this was absolutely the right decision.

He was the star of the IPL 2026, and swept away numerous awards to become the best player in the tournament.

3) Nitish Kumar Reddy

With no Hardik Pandya in the team due to an injury, Nitish Kumar Reddy has a great chance to solidify his place in the T20I team. The all-rounder was outstanding in the IPL 2026 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and as a result, the BCCI selectors drafted him into the T20I squad.

4) Ravi Bishnoi

With Varun Chakravarthy ruled out of the Ireland T20Is, the spin department responsibility will be led by Ravi Bishnoi, who was included in the side after a brilliant IPL 2026 for the Rajasthan Royals.

He picked up 11 wickets in 9 matches and was one of the best players for his side in the IPL. Bishnoi, last played a T2OI game for India in January 2026, but he has been in and out of the side in the last few years. The Ireland T20Is provide him a chance to redeem himself and become the number-one choice spinner for India in this format.
