The tentative schedule for 2027 World Cup is out in public, and it is not too far away. All the teams have already started preparations for the mega event, and so has been done the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for India’s 2027 World Cup Squad.
The India vs Afghanistan ODIs are currently ongoing, and arguably the biggest gain for the Men in Blue was the rise of Gurnoor Brar. The 26-year-old made his India debut in Dharamsala, where the game was reduced to a 25-over-a-side.
There, Gurnoor took the wicket of No. 3 ODI batter Ibrahim Zadran in his very first over. Since then, he did not look back.
In two matches, Gurnoor has picked up six wickets, taking him to the top of the wicket-takers chart in the series. Given that he has an ability to hit the deck hard, coupled with his bonus as his height (6 feet five inches) as well as taking up the new ball, some of the candidates who are supposed to be in India’s 2027 World Cup squad.
Let’s take a look at three most-likely candidates for India’s 2027 World Cup squad snub.
Players Who Can Be Out Of India’s 2027 World Cup Squad
3. Prasidh Krishna
The first name in this list is Prasidh Krishna, for which Gurnoor did not get a chance to shine in IPL 2026 despite being under Shubman Gill in Gujarat Titans.
Prasidh and Gurnoor have identical bowling style: hitting the deck hard. In addition, the former has a knack of bowling in inconsistent line and length, which led him conceding runs at a quick pace.

Therefore, Prasidh is the first person to be snubbed from the prospect of getting a place in India’s 2027 World Cup Squad.
2. Mohammed Siraj
Previously being No. 1 ODI bowler in the world, Mohammed Siraj appears to be no longer in the mix for India’s 2027 World Cup squad plans. His numbers since the start of 2024 does not support him to be in there either.
To make matters worse, his ODI numbers away from home is equally ordinary.

Thus, leaving out Siraj from India’s 2027 World Cup squad could be an easy decision for the BCCI, and Gurnoor is an ideal candidate for fast bowling attack.
Arshdeep Singh
Even though Arshdeep Singh brings the left-arm advantage among fast bowlers, he is not consistent enough to keep his place in India’s ODI setup. In addition, with Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana projected to be there already, India might not even look up to keep Arshdeep if Gurnoor Brar gets his place secured.
Nevertheless, there is a chance Arshdeep might still be in India’s 2027 World Cup squad, maybe as a back-up player.
Conclusion
In the above three mentioned names, one of Siraj or Prasidh will fail to make the cut in India’s 2027 World Cup Squad. The rise of Prince Yadav could make the life even more difficult, but more importantly, it would be interesting to see how Gurnoor Brar’s ODI roadmap goes from here on.
