Promising Indian batter Kartik Sharma achieved a historic record during his match-winning knock for CSK in their most recent IPL 2026 match against Mumbai Indians.

Batting first, MI posted an under-par total of 159 runs in 20 overs. Although Naman Dhir struck a valiant half-century, the failure of Mumbai's finishing department, especially captain Hardik Pandya, led them to an underwhelming total.

In response, the Super Kings lost the crucial wicket of Sanju Samson early in the innings. However, blistering knocks from captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and young batter Kartik Sharma ensured a smooth chase for the home side, as they registered their third win of the season.

Known for his power-hitting skills, Kartik Sharma bagged a lucrative deal worth INR 14.20 crore for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 auction.

However, he couldn't live up to the expectations in the first few matches, letting his team down with a string of low scores.

Statistically, Kartik had managed only 58 runs across five innings before the high-profile CSK Vs MI clash.

So, the encounter against Chennai's arch-rivals was a golden opportunity for the promising cricketer to showcase his mettle and make his mark in the tournament.
