Hampshire batter Toby Albert went berserk against Sussex in their Group B match of the One-Day Cup 2026 season. Batting first at the County Ground in Hove, Hampshire mounted 383-9 in 50 overs.
While both opening batters smeared scintillating centuries, Albert at number three blasted 86 runs off just 37 balls with five boundaries and eight huge sixes. It is worth noting that the explosive right-handed batter launched six of those maximums in succession at one stage of the innings.
Despite his six-hitting fest on Sunday, August 9, the 24-year-old failed to enter the elusive list helmed by Yuvraj Singh, Gary Sobers, Kieron Pollard and others.

Albert began his onslaught in the 43rd over by dispatching Nantes Oosthuizen for two consecutive maximums to race to a 26-ball half-century. After regaining strike in the third ball of the following over, the 24-year-old took Robert Oliver Kirtley to the cleaners with four huge sixes to hit six sixes in a row.
Racing from 41* off 24 to 77* off 30 in the blink of an eye, Toby Albert was eventually dismissed by Sussex paceman Ollie Robinson.

Despite hitting six sixes in a row, the explosive top-order batter failed to join the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Gary Sobers among others for the record of hitting six consecutive maximums, considering the aforementioned players had struck their six sixes all within six balls of a single over.
Which batters have hit six sixes in an over?
Previously, all-rounders like Gary Sobers and Ravi Shastri have hit six sixes in a single over, albeit in domestic cricket. Herschelle Gibbs became the first player in history to achieve the feat in international cricket, doing so at the 2007 World Cup.
Later that same year, Yuvraj Singh bludgeoned England’s Stuart Broad for six sixes at the 2007 T20 World Cup.
Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard and Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee have also struck six successive sixes in an over, in 2021 and 2024 respectively.
How has Toby Albert fared in One-Day Cup 2026 season so far?
Toby Albert started off his One-Day Cup 2026 season run with a scorching 89 against Durham in Southampton. With his latest half-century for Hampshire against Sussex, the cricketer has so far aggregated 221 runs in three innings at a prolific average of 73.66 and with an astonishing strike rate of 116.31.
It is worth noting that Albert has previously played The Hundred for the Southern Brave franchise. Since Southern Brave is co-owned by the Delhi Capitals owners, Albert’s latest heroics might prompt the Capitals management to rope the cricketer for IPL.
