The Gujarat Titans finished as the runners-up in the IPL 2026, with the team becoming a shrewd unit under Shubman Gill. Under a young skipper, they looked flawless as they challenged opposition both at home and away.

GT's journey to challenge their opponents began when Gill mocked CSK with a picture with a yellow whistle after beating them at Chennai.

However, one of the best-looking outings in the season, GT, went down bowing in the final against RCB at Ahmedabad. Although Gujarat vs Bengaluru was the last dance of the season, GT vs CSK was also a riveting one.

Meanwhile, ahead of the IPL 2027, a GT player has showcased his wish to shift his base to Chennai to play under MS Dhoni.

Kulwant Khejroliya openly wishes to play for CSK

While talking to Sports Yaari, Gujarat Titans (GT)'s Kulwant Khejroliya openly confessed his admiration for Chennai Super Kings. He wished to play for the five-time champions, not only if MS Dhoni is there in the franchise.

"I just want to play cricket (in the IPL). My only wish would be that, if any team picks me based on my domestic performances, be to play. My main aim is to play cricket, so it won’t matter for which team I play," Khejroliya told Sports Yaari.

"I have played for almost every team out there, but I would love to play for CSK. If Mahi Bhai is playing, I would love to play under him."

Khejroliya is currently in the GT, and he would only be released or traded if either the franchise or the 34-year-old pacer wishes to. However, it wouldn't be the case, especially after the IPL 2026 season GT had.

Kulwant Khejroliya's IPL journey so far

Kulwant Khejroliya started off his journey in the IPL with the Mumbai Indians, who picked the left-arm speedster ahead of the 2017 edition, although he didn't get any games at MI.

However, next season, RCB picked the Delhi pacer for INR 85 lakhs, allowing Khejroliya to make his debut in the IPL. Moreover, he played five games for RCB in the next two seasons, picking three wickets.

In 2021, the Delhi-based seamer was picked by the Delhi Capitals as a replacement for M. Siddharth after initially serving as a net bowler. Two years later, KKR bought the left-armer for IPL 2023.

However, after missing action for one more season, Gujarat Titans bought Khejroliya ahead of IPL 2025, and he has been with the one-time champions since then.

Should CSK target Kulwant Khejroliya for IPL 2027?

Although Kulwant Khejroliya is among the GT's fast-bowling reserves, the franchise might not release the left-arm bowler ahead of the mini-auction. However, if they do, he would be a hot-selling property in the auctions ahead of IPL 2027.

With CSK’s fast-bowling department performing below par in the last season after Khaleel Ahmed was ruled out, he could solve Chennai’s problem. He would not only be a like-for-like replacement for Khaleel, but his prowess as a quality left-arm fast bowler would come in handy in Chennai’s conditions.

In the IPL, Khejroliya has played just 9 matches in a career ranging close to a decade, but he has a truckload of experience in domestic circles. Overall, he has picked 175 wickets in domestic cricket, bowling exceptionally in all phases of the innings.
