RCB and “struggle” have been synonymous terms given the Virat Kohli headlined team’s 17 years of hustle before the IPL title came to them in 2025. In a recent podcast by Ranveer Allahbadia, Bengaluru’s wicketkeeper batter Jitesh Sharma delivered a strong word on those years of struggle and the trophy win that has now created a stir on the internet.

On the infamous ‘TRS’ show on YouTube by host Ranveer Allahbadia, Jitesh Sharma was invited to talk about cricket, life and inspiration as he also represented his IPL team while taking a strong stance for it while triggering debate with Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.

RCB’s Struggle Defined By 18 Years of Legacy

Even though Royal Challengers Bengaluru boasted some of the legendary names in their lineups, namely Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, etc., and even after being captained by Virat Kohli, since its inception, the franchise has struggled to bag any title.

It was only in 2025 that captain Rajat Patidar led the team to the trophy as well; this team, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, remained the holy trio of trophyless teams. 2016 was a close affair with Sunrisers Hyderabad, but not the one to script the fairy tale.

Nevertheless, ‘pride’ is now home for the Aditya Birla acquired franchise, and Jitesh didn’t step back to glorify his team in front of the YouTube channel that boasts 11.1M subscribers.

What Did Jitesh Sharma Say In The TRS Show?

During the podcast, Ranveer Allahbadia shared that RCB’s IPL 2025 win felt refreshing, as a relatively neutral team lifted the trophy instead of the dominant Mumbai Indians or Chennai Super Kings. Responding to this statement, Jitesh immediately said, “Nahi hum deserve bhi karte the (No, we deserved it as well)”.

Now, with only LSG, DC, and PBKS left to win the title, Ranveer added that they should go on to win it this year. To this, Jitesh Sharma replied, “No, it doesn’t mean that only they deserve to win this year. We will also try to win the title again.” This response left Allahbadia bursting into laughter.

The short clip of this video immediately went viral on social media platforms, with mixed reactions gracing Jitesh. While some of the RCB fans praised his confidence, most of the fans wanted him to dial down the attitude on the triggering words for LSG DC and PBKS fans.

Let’s take a look at how fans reacted to Jitesh’s comment on this video:

How Did Jitesh Sharma Perform In IPL 2025?

Jitesh has been a regular for RCB since 2022. The wicketkeeper-batter has played 55 matches in the red and gold jersey, maintaining a strike rate of 157.05 at an average of 25.41. In 2025, Jitesh had a solid season, his best so far.

Featuring in 15 matches, he scored 261 runs at an average of 37.29, striking at an impressive 176.35.

Jitesh Sharma has been a reliable presence at No. 5 and No. 6, especially in stabilising the innings after early collapses. Hence, he is likely to continue in that role in this edition of the IPL as well.

Meanwhile, as rightly pointed out, LSG, DC, and PBKS are yet to win their maiden IPL titles. However, with revamped squads following the IPL 2026 auction and a fresh approach, all three teams, along with RCB, will be aiming for a title win despite the challenges.
