Yograj Singh, the father of India’s greatest all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, often makes headlines due to his out-of-the-box remarks on public platforms. Wednesday was one of those days, and it was Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun Tendulkar, for whom he vouched in an ultra-aggressive manner.

Arjun trained under Yograj in 2022. Sachin’s son raised his bar from there on, getting an IPL contract and then making waves in the Ranji Trophy.

Earlier, Arjun was associated with Mumbai Indians, where Sachin used to be the franchise’s mentor. With IPL 2026 coming up, Arjun will now be playing for Lucknow Super Giants, who signed him for INR 30 lakh in the last mini auction.

Ashwin Faces The Wrath Of Yograj

With Mohammed Shami leading the pack, LSG have quite a few pace options in Akash Singh, Mayank Yadav, Prince Yadav, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Naman Tiwari and Anrich Nortje for IPL 2026. Hence, it would be a challenge for Pant and his boys to make Arjun play in every other match.

Those who are unaware, Arjun primarily bowls pace, and can be handy with the bat as well if required.

Ex-India all-rounder and Sachin Tendulkar’s colleague R Ashwin gave his verdict on Arjun, saying there is no chance Arjun can make it. When asked about his response to this subject, Yograj did not hold back, and showed no respect to Ashwin.

"He is talking bullsh*t, this guy, R Ashwin, whoever he is. He should know what to talk about somebody. Somebody's sitting on the television and talking,' Oh, he can't do this, he can't do that'. Who are you? What are you?" Yograj said in a conversation with InsideSport.

Furthermore, Yograj admitted there’s an added pressure on Arjun Tendulkar for being Sachin’s son. Nevertheless, that is not his fault, and Yograj promised he would even cut his beard if Arjun fails to live up to his expectations after six months of training with him.

"He is Sachin Tendulkar's son, that is a different story. When he was here, I told Yuvi, that all of you are concentrating wrong on Arjun. He is not a bowler, he had a spine problem, and his hands come down from 45 degree. When he was here, I was talking to him. I told his coach as well when he was with the Goa team," Yograj added.

"If you can't do it. Send him to me, I challenge the whole world that if Arjun Tendulkar spends six months with me, he will surpass all the batters in this world. If not, I will cut off my beard and throw it."

Why Did Arjun Tendulkar Leave Yograj Singh?

Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun was only under Yograj’s guidance for 12 days in 2022. After that, even though he played for Goa in the Ranji Trophy and the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, he never returned to train under Yograj.

Last year in January, Yograj Singh gave an explanation of Arjun Tendulkar’s stance and the reason for not coming back.

“People are very afraid of name-sticking. I told Yuvi (Yuvraj) to call Sachin and ask him to give me Arjun for a year. See what happens after that,” Yograj opined on 'Unfiltered by Samdish'.

So far, Arjun has played five IPL matches, and picked up three wickets at an economy rate of 9.37.
