In the top of the table clash, the Gujarat Titans will meet the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday, May 12, at 7:30 PM (IST).

Leading up to the game, both teams are level on 14 points at the top and are just one win away from playoff qualification. The Gujarat Titans are the most in-form team currently, with four wins on the bounce, while the Sunrisers, who have also won four of their last five, dropped points a game back.

As has been the case earlier, the GT are a top-heavy unit, where the top-3 does the bulk of the scoring consistently and the middle order chips in time to time. With the ball, their overseas stars, Kagiso Rabada, Jason Holder and Rashid Khan are holding the fort well.

As they face SRH at home with a chance to secure a playoff spot, we take a look at their expected playing XI.

GT Playing XI vs SRH- IPL 2026, Match 56

Top-order: Shubman Gill (c), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (wk)

The GT openers, against all odds, have once again stepped up in IPL 2026 and scored over 400 runs each in the first 11 matches. Captain Gill has scored 462 runs at 160.41 with four fifties, and Sai Sudharsan has scored 440 runs at 157.70, and are in the running for the Orange Cap.

They will be followed by Jos Buttler, who has gotten 348 runs at a strike rate of 151.96 despite coming into the season in bad form.

Middle-order and All-rounders: Washington Sundar, Jason Holder, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Nishant Sindhu

Washington Sundar has proven to be a utility player for GT, who has batted more than he has bowled. With 246 runs at a strike rate of 152.79, he has also helped the team finish matches and return to the pavilion unbeaten.

Jason Holder is likely to bat at 5 with the ability to contribute across departments. Since his introduction to the XI, he has been their most dependable middle and death overs bowler, picking 10 wickets at an economy rate of just 6.65 runs per over in 5 matches. He can also slog late in the innings.

Rahul Tewatia hasn’t bowled in the season yet, but finished a couple of matches unbeaten and remains their designated finisher. He will be followed by the brilliant Rashid Khan, who is back in his element with the leg-spin after picking 15 wickets, including a best of 4/33 in the last match.

Nishant Sindhu is yet to get any proper opportunities to do something substantial since his debut, but remains their 6-7 number batter, who can bowl left-arm orthodox.

Bowlers: Arshad Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj

The left-arm quick Arshad Khan has been a consistent pick outside the powerplay and has 5 wickets in 3 innings this season, including the best figures of 3/22. He can also add a few runs if his team needs.

Kagiso Rabada, who is competing for the Purple Cap, has picked 18 wickets in 11 innings at an economy rate of 9.35 runs per over. He is consistently bowling in the high 140s and also clocking 150 this season and dominating the powerplays, much like Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Mohammed Siraj is another consistent GT bowler who has again lived up to his reputation as a new-ball bowler with 12 wickets in 11 innings at just over 8.5 runs per over. He will also chip in with an over or two in the death overs.

While Prasidh Krishna is back in the mix and was a part of the impact player list last match, Sai Sudharsan was given a prominence over him due to a rather slow wicket. However, Prasidh is likely to play over Sai Sudharsan at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
