New Zealand predicted XI vs India, 5th T20I [Source: AFP]
The T20I series between New Zealand and India will head to its conclusion with the fifth T20I at the Seddon Park in Hamilton on November 1. The match will commence at 12:30 PM (IST), where the Kiwis will look to make the series 2-3, having won the 4th T20I in Auckland.
Led by a Glenn Phillips ton, New Zealand scored a whooping 259/7 in 20 overs of the first innings, and subsequently won the match by 87 after restricting India to 172/9. As the Blackcaps eye to end the series on a high, here's a look at their predicted XI.
Top Order- Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, Daryl Mitchell
The New Zealand openers have had an underwhelming series for their standards, so there is an option to bring in Devon Conway for the solitary match. However, with the ODIs coming up, New Zealand are more likely to stick to Finn Allen and Tim Seifert, hoping for them to regain their form.
Allen has scored 132 runs across four innings at 165, while Seifert has only managed 36 runs at 106. The pair will be followed by this series' third-highest run-scorer, Daryl Mitchell. The right-hand batter has scored 147 runs at a strike rate of 172.94, reinventing himself in a new role in T20Is.
Middle Order and Allrounders- Glenn Phillips, Bevon Jacobs, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (c)
The hero of the 4th T20I, Glenn Phillips is in a red-hot form. Courtesy of his century in Auckland, Phillips is the leading run-getter of the series with 276 runs at 189.04. He has two fifties in the series as well. He will be paired with Bevon Jacobs at 5, as the latter has scored 135 runs in 4 innings at a strike rate of 146.73, with the best score of 58.
The 4th T20I saw Michael Bracewell get his first real shot at batting in the series and the allrounder did not disappoint. Bracewell played a blinder of 65(25) with four fours and six sixes and also has two wickets in the series. Captain Mitchell Santner will follow at number 7, as the leading wicket-taker at 9 scalps, conceding just 6.73 runs per over in a high-scoring series.
Bowlers- Nathan Smith, Adam Milne, Jacob Duffy, Matthew Fisher
Nathan Smith had a poor outing in Auckland, as he finished as the only Kiwi bowler to go wicketless, while conceding 47 runs in 4 overs. Josh Clarkson could be in the reckoning for pace-bowling allrounder's spot, but Smith currently looks ahead in the pecking order.
Three key pacers, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson and Lockie Ferguson are unavailable for the final T20I as well. In their absence, Adam Milne will open the bowling attack after registering decent figures of 1/35 in the last match.
Milne will be paired with Jacob Duffy, as the two pacers have equalled their T20I wicket-tally with 67 scalps each. After an expensive outing in Wellington, Duffy picked 4/23 in Auckland, receiving plaudits from the captain as well.
The 26-year-old Matthew Fisher will complete the bowling attack, following up his 2/40 in the 4th T20I. So far in 3 T20Is, he has 3 wickets and could face competition from Blair Tickner, who has 19 wickets in 18 innings so far. But Fisher seems to be ahead in the pecking order from what has been evident in recent T20Is.
