Harry Brook might be at the peak of his powers in T20I cricket, and many consider him to be the best batter in this format at the moment. However, former Indian cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath reckons India’s Abhishek Sharma is the best batter in the T20I format as he dismissed the theory that Brook is ahead of the Indian star.

Abhishek is the current world number 1 batter in the T20I format, and over the last couple of years, he has built a strong reputation for himself as bowlers fear bowling to him. On the other hand, Brook was one of the star players in the T20 World Cup 2026, and he even smacked a century against Pakistan.

Badrinath picks Abhishek over Brook

The Abhishek Sharma vs Harry Brook - better T20I batter debate has been circulating in the last couple of years, but Badrinath put an end to all the discussion.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former India and CSK player picked the Indian opener over the England captain, and he gave reasons for it.

“I think Abhishek is one of the most devastating hitters. It is enough to instill fear within the bowlers in the powerplay even though he has a baby face. His batting is on the next level. The English media can say Harry Brook is the best right now. But there is no chance. It is Abhishek and he has got the numbers,” Badrinath said in a video on his YouTube channel.

The left-handed opener recently reclaimed the number 1 T20I ranking as he displaced his Indian teammate, Ishan Kishan, from the top position after a stellar home and away series vs West Indies and New Zealand, respectively.

How Brook and Abhishek fare in T20I matches

Interestingly, both Brook and Abhishek have played an equal number of matches in T20Is (71), but the Indian batter is far ahead of the English star in terms of statistics.

While the 26-year-old Indian opener has racked up 2267 runs, with a strike rate of 196.61, including 4 hundreds, Brook has amassed1702 runs, with a strike rate of 164.92.

While Brook has done well in patches for England in this format, Abhishek has been more consistent, and he has been a bigger match-winner in the T20Is than the England skipper, Brook.
