Jai Moondra continues to impress in early days of his international career, after he led Ireland to a series-levelling win against Namibia at the High Performance Oval in Windhoek.

On October 30, the bowler picked his career best figures across formats and helped Ireland win by a fine margin of 130 runs. With this, he also became the leading wicket-taker in the series, while breaking major records for Ireland.

Jai Moondra claims 6-fer vs Namibia

Playing the fourth ODI of the series, Namibia decided to bowl first and were asked to chase 299 runs in 50 overs. The 29-year-old pacer opened the bowling and had an instant impact on the match.

In just his second over, he dismissed Malan Kruger for a three-ball-duck, as an edge carried to the wicketkeeper. He backed it up by another wicket in the powerplay, dismissing the experienced Jan Frylinck for 4(13), reducing Namibia to 15/2 in 6.3 overs.

On the final ball of his sixth and final over of the first spell, Moondra got rid of Louren Steenkamp for 21(34), as a catch carried to Curtis Campher. Later in the innings, the lanky pacer dismissed Zane Green and Ruben Trumpelann in back-to-back overs to complete his five-fer.

Finally, to wrap things up Jack Brasell's hit one straight to George Dockrell to dismantle Namibia for 168 in just 41 overs. This is the best-ever spell for an Irish bowler in ODIs — Moondra is only the third bowler to pick a six-fer in the format for Ireland.

Moondra's promising start to international career

Earlier in 2026, Jai Moondra was handed his maiden T20I cap against India and immediately impressed, with a spell of 2/25 (4) against the two-time T20 World Champions. Soon he was rewarded with an ETPL contract as well as his ODI debut.

So far, he has picked 5 wickets in 2 T20Is against India, including the best figures of 3/32 in Belafest. In his 7-match ODI career, Moondra has picked 13 wickets and 10 of them have come in the ongoing tour of Namibia. As they are about to end their first-ever bilateral ODI series against Namibia, they will have all to play for on November 1.
