MI predicted XI vs RCB [Source: AFP]
The Mumbai Indians are set to collide with the defending champions, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, at the Wankhede Stadium in the night fixture of the double-header on Sunday, April 12. Match 20 of IPL 2026 will begin at 7:30 PM (IST) as the home side looks to regain some winning momentum in IPL 2026.
Having won their first match of the season for the first time in 14 years, MI have failed to back it up with any more wins in the next two games. They were beaten by DC by 6 wickets, followed by another defeat at the hands of RR by 27 runs. With only two points, they are currently placed 8th on the table.
On the other hand, RCB have won two of their three games, chasing 202 against SRH, followed by a 43-run win over the southern rivals CSK, before they faced the same fate as MI against a high-flying RR. Leading up to the electrifying clash against MI after beating them on their last visit to the Wankhede, RCB is 3rd on the table.
As the two sides take on each other on Sunday evening, below is a look at the predicted XI for the Mumbai Indians.
MI Likely Playing XI vs RCB- IPL 2026, Match 20
Top Order: Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickleton (wk), Suryakumar Yadav
The MI openers, Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickleton, started the season with a century stand against KKR but haven't produced such partnerships in the next two matches. Nonetheless, they are still the top-2 run-getters from the MI camp with 118 and 98 runs, respectively, striking at close to 170 each.
They will be followed by Suryakumar Yadav, who has recently been in a topsy-turvy form but has produced one fifty in three innings, striking at 155.31 in IPL 2026 so far. As a long-time consistent performer, there will be no doubts over his spot.

Middle Order and All-Rounders: Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (c), Sherfane Rutherford, Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner, Corbin Bosch
The Mumbai Indians have a long batting lineup, full of quality all-rounders at their disposal. It will start with the southpaw Tilak Varma, who is yet to fire in IPL 2026, followed by Hardik Pandya, who has only faced 17 deliveries, scoring 27 runs in 2 innings so far.
Despite only picking one wicket so far, Pandya, with his 0/17 vs RR, showed his good bowling rhythm and will handle the new ball in the powerplay.
The finishers' duty will be shared by the dangerous Sherfane Rutherford and Naman Dhir at numbers 6 and 7. Rutherford has been in some good form since the turn of the year, performing in SA20 and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, while Naman Dhir has scored 58 runs in 3 innings at 161.11.
With Will Jacks still to join the MI camp, as revealed by Mahela Jayawardene, it will be crucial for the pair of Rutherford and Dhir to fire. Dhir can chip in with his off-spin if needed as well.
Mitchell Santner, after missing the previous match due to a shoulder injury sustained while fielding against DC, is likely to be back in the team for Allah Ghazanfar. He will be instrumental against Virat Kohli and Phil Salt, if he is given the new ball. He could also come back in the middle overs to stem the run flow against a dangerous Rajat Patidar.
In a precarious situation, Trent Boult has struggled to find his form in IPL 2026, conceding at 12 runs per over in 5 overs so far. He is also not predominantly used as a new ball bowler despite it being his speciality. Hence, Corbin Bosch could slot in at 9, as a middle overs enforcer who is a capable batter down the order.
Bowlers: Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah
Much like the Bosch-Boult situation, Shardul Thakur could also be in a race with Deepak Chahar for a spot in the playing XI. Thakur is their leading wicket-taker after 3 matches, scalping 4 wickets, but has conceded 12.88 runs per over. He can operate across phases, while if Chahar plays, he will bowl mostly up top.
Considering the powerplay bowling options and a potential use of Santner with the new ball, MI could go for Thakur over Chahar.
To cap off the playing XI will be Jasprit Bumrah, who, uncharacteristically, was taken down by the 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the last match. After 3 matches, he is the MI bowler with the most overs bowled (11) but has yet to pick up a wicket in IPL 2026. His form is of utmost importance for MI to bounce back and end the losing streak.
MI Playing XI vs RCB- Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickleton (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (c), Sherfane Rutherford, Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner, Corbin Bosch, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah.
