Peshawar Zalmi vs Lahore Qalandars match in PSL 2026 2026 saw a critical moment that almost threw Babar Azam out of the tournament. In the clash at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on April 11, Babar suffered a massive blow while batting for the Zalmis in the first innings.

Lahore Qalandars won the toss and opted to bowl first, and Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam had the duties to open for their team, however, it ended as a nightmare for the latter as he suffered a massive blow from Qalandars' pacer Ubaid Shah.

Babar Azam Gets Massive Hit In The Face

In the Peshawar vs Lahore PSL 2026 clash, as Babar was batting inside the powerplay, on the first ball of the sixth over, Ubaid Shah bowled a very short-length delivery to Babar that glanced straight to his head after bouncing on the track.

As the ball had decent pace on it, Babar, who tried to play a pull shot, couldn't connect with the ball, as the gap between the bat and the ball was significant, and the ball went on to hit the grill of Babar's helmet on his right side.

The impact was massive, as Babar Azam immediately held his neck after the impact, with severe pain visible on his face. He even sat down on the ground in pain as all the players on the field rushed towards him to check on him.

Babar safe from any serious injury in PSL 2026

The 125 km/h delivery shook Babar's helmet grill, with Lahore Qalandars players rushing in to check his safety by removing the helmet.

However, although he showed signs of neck pain, there was no concussion on Babar's part, and the game continued after the physios and the umpire conducted a routine check-up on him.

It saved Peshawar Zalmi from a massive injury concern, since Babar's departure from the team would have left them without a captain, with one of the valuable top-order batters absent from the squad.

However, the injury concern was shaken off quickly as the team resumed play, with Babar playing a solid knock of 40-ball 43 before getting dismissed by Usama Mir.

Zalmis rack up solid total despite Babar Azam scare

Speaking of the match, Peshawar Zalmi racked up a solid 173 on the board in their first innings, with Kusal Mendis being the top scorer for the team.

Although Mohammad Haris failed to impress after getting dismissed early in the third over, Babar Azam paired with Kusal Mendis for a 109-run partnership to anchor the innings after the early wicket.

With Mendis' 48-ball 74 and Michael Bracewell's quick blitz, the team reached a respectable total, which will be a test for the Qalandars at the National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi.

Babar, meanwhile, has had a decent PSL 2026 outing, where for Peshawar Zalmi, he has scored at an average of 70.67 while striking at 135.90.

Although his strike rate remains a topic of debate, his consistency in this tournament has helped his team remain at the top of the PSL 2026 table with three wins from their four matches.
