KKR fast bowler Kartik Tyagi sent down two full tosses in succession against the LSG in match number 38 of the IPL 2026 season. To make matters worse for the visiting KKR side at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, the young paceman did so in the final over of the match to ease up LSG’s equation.

In a topsy-turvy final over, umpires even discussed about the possibility of taking Tyagi off the attack considering the speedster had just delivered two beamers. However, following a brief discussion, the 25-year-old bowled out the remainder of the over.

Here, we take a look as to why did the umpires not take Kartik Tyagi off the attack despite bowling two successive beamers.

Why did Kartik Tyagi kept bowling despite sending down two beamers

Kartik Tyagi was tasked to bowl the final over of the match, at a time when the LSG franchise required 17 runs to win from the last six deliveries. While the speedster started off by conceding a single, he sent down a chest-high full toss, fittingly called a ‘no ball’ by the on-field umpire.

Bowling with a ‘free hit’ on, Tyagi bowled another full toss, once again called a ‘no ball’ by the umpires. Despite his repeated blunder, the bowler kept on bowling and completed his four-over spell.

As it happened, the KKR youngster was allowed to continue bowling following a discussion between the umpires, who deemed the second high full-toss of the over not dangerous enough to warrant removing him from the attack.

What does the rule book say about two beamers?

As per the MCC Law 41.7, a bowler will be taken off the attack if he or she delivers a “second dangerous non-pitching delivery in an innings”. The ball needs to have been passed above the batter’s waist height without pitching, and such deliveries are also fittingly declared a ‘no-ball’.

Since the umpires deemed Tyagi’s second waist-high full toss as not dangerous enough, he was allowed to complete the over.

LSG vs KKR: As it happened

In any case, Kartik Tyagi’s continued over ended up proving costly for the KKR franchise in the context of the initial 20-overs game. Tasked to defend 17 off the final over, the speedster leaked 16 runs in his eight-ball over, which included a last-ball six by LSG tailender Mohammed Shami to tie the game.

With both teams now locked at 155 each after 40 overs of action, LSG batted first and bundled out for just a run in the Super Over. Sunil Narine picked up both wickets, including that of Nicholas Pooran for a duck and Aiden Markram for a single in just three deliveries.

In response, Rinku Singh bludgeoned a boundary off the first ball to seal the deal in KKR’s favor. The outcome marked KKR’s only second win of the IPL 2026 season.
