The Indian Premier League has always been a breeding ground for uncapped talents who have gone on to make it big in the big leagues later in their careers.

One of those moments came in the KKR vs LSG clash in IPL 2026 on April 26 night at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Mohsin Khan, an uncapped talent from the Lucknow Super Giants, delivered one of the best spells of his life to etch his name in a rare list of talented personalities.

As Mohsin Khan bagged unbelievable numbers against Kolkata Knight Riders in the KKR versus LSG clash, there have been many others who repeated the same heroics with the ball to be crowned better than him. Let’s take a look at all the best figures delivered by an uncapped bowler in IPL.

5) 5/25 - Umran Malik (SRH) vs GT, 2022

Umran Malik, the current acquisition of Kolkata Knight Riders, produced a memorable spell for Sunrisers Hyderabad with his five-wicket haul back in 2022.

In the April 27 clash of Gujarat Titans vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, Malik ravaged through the top and middle order to dismantle GT's chase.

Although Gujarat managed to win the match with five wickets remaining, the scare set by Umran earned him the player of the match award with figures of five wickets from his four overs while giving away just 25 runs at an economy rate of 6.25.

4) 5/23 - Mohsin Khan (LSG) vs KKR, 2026

The Lucknow Super Giants vs Kolkata Knight Riders clash saw Mohsin Khan become the pick of the bowlers for the hosts at Ekana Cricket Stadium as he scalped five crucial wickets inside four overs while giving away only 23 runs at an economy rate of 5.75 to dismantle the KKR batting line-up.

Khan dismissed openers Tim Seifert and Ajinkya Rahane inside four overs to break the confidence of the visitors. Later, Cameron Green, who showed form with his 21-ball 34, was also sent back to the pavilion by Mohsin in the 11th over.

Khan later completed his five-wicket haul by picking up Rovman Powell and Anukul Roy as Kolkata put up a paltry 155 on board, courtesy of Rinku Singh's valiant 51-ball 83. Notably, the fifer by Mohsin Khan in the Knight Riders vs Super Giants clash also became the first 5-wicket haul to be recorded in IPL 2026.

3) 5/20 - Varun Chakaravarthy (KKR) vs DC, 2020

Varun Chakaravarthy, another talent of Kolkata Knight Riders, helped the team dominate Delhi Capitals back in 2020 during the 42nd match of the IPL.

Defending a target of 195 runs on board, Varun Chakaravarthy was crucial, picking dangerous batters Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant in the 14th and 12th overs.

His contributions led DC to fall to 95 for 5, with the mystery spinner later cleaning up the wickets of Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, and Axar Patel.

He helped KKR bundle DC out for just 135 runs, as Chakaravarthy finished with figures of 5 wickets, giving away 20 runs at an economy rate of 5.00 from his four-over spell.

2) 5/14 - Ankit Rajpoot (PBKS) vs SRH, 2018

Ankit Rajpoot also took a five-wicket haul for the Punjab Kings in a clash in 2018, which saw a low-scoring affair. Coming into bat first, SRH put up 132 on the board at the loss of six wickets, out of which five came to Rajpoot.

Rajpoot scattered the top order of Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, and Wriddhiman Saha, alongside Manish Pandey, to bag his first four wickets.

Later, he completed his five-wicket haul with Mohammad Nabi's scalp as he finished by giving away only 14 runs from his four overs with a solid economy rate of 3.50 under his belt.

Although Kings XI Punjab lost the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ankit Rajpoot was declared the Player of the Match because of his stupendous bowling efforts.

1) 5/5 - Akash Madhwal (MI) vs LSG, 2023

The best and most unbelievable bowling figures ever recorded in the IPL were from Mumbai Indians bowler Akash Madhwal. Surprisingly, the uncapped bowler produced figures of 5/5 as he took charge with the ball against Lucknow Super Giants in an IPL 2023 Eliminator match at Chepauk.

As Lucknow Super Giants came to chase a target of 183 runs, Madhwal's 5-wicket haul, giving away just 5 runs, helped MI restrict LSG to 101 runs.

Madhwal dismissed Prerak Mankad, Ayush Badoni, Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, and Mohsin Khan to complete his 5-wicket haul, which also became one of the most iconic figures ever bowled by any uncapped bowler in the IPL.
