Under-transition RR seek indemnity waiver for IPL 2026 Jaipur matches
Rajasthan Royals are racing to get their home ground ready for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season and have sought an indemnity waiver from the state government to host matches in Jaipur.
The request follows concerns raised by an independent auditor and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about the venue's readiness.
Amid uncertainty over the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, the Indian board has not been able to share the final IPL schedule with the franchises.
Meanwhile, the one-time IPL winners are in transition, moving on from former captain Sanju Samson’s era, after his trade to the Chennai Super Kings, in return for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. Hence, naming the young Riyan Parag as the new captain.
On the other hand, legendary Sri Lankan batter Kumar Sangakkara has also replaced Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the 2026 IPL season, returning to the role while continuing in his duties as Director of Cricket.
Consequently, amid all the shifts, evolution, and the venue uncertainty, the Rajasthan-based franchise will have to regroup and strategise accordingly.
