Sanju Samson was left humiliated by India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh for his DRS howler against Zimbabwe in match number 48 of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The incident occurred during the 17th over of the Zimbabwe innings, when Arshdeep half-heartedly appealed for a Ryan Burl wicket.
Despite receiving no approval from wicketkeeper Samson, India captain Suryakumar Yadav still decided to take the decision upstairs after the on-field umpire had adjudged ‘not out’.

Arshdeep Singh stares down at Sanju Samson after DRS howler
India wicketkeeper Sanju Samson believed the ball might be missing the leg-stump after Arshdeep Singh appealed for an LBW against Zimbabwe number five Ryan Burl in the 17th over of the run chase.
With Samson advising against the idea of taking a referral after umpire’s ‘not out’ verdict, skipper Suryakumar Yadav still decided to take the decision upstairs. Much to everyone’s surprise, the ball was found to be hitting Ryan Burl’s leg-stump, thus prompting umpire Richard Kettleborough to reverse his decision to “out” instead.
After the final verdict, Arshdeep Singh raised his hands to celebrate and seemingly stared down at Sanju Samson for his initial reluctance. The stumper, left amused, covered his face after nearly depriving his teammate of a well-deserved wicket.
