Even though not like Virat Kohli’s, Tilak Varma has reached the hearts of fans worldwide, including that of Zimbabwe cricketer Brad Evans’ sister. After the T20 World Cup 2026 clash between India and Zimbabwe ended, Evans asked Tilak to record a special message for his siter.

Tilak Varma, who has become quite the sensation due to his Asia Cup 2025 heroics and his recent role as both explosive aggressor and anchor, respectfully finished the duty while recording a heartwarming message for Evans’ sister Rebecca.

Varma Vrooms The Run Rate With Late Blitz For India

Tilak was the quickfire batter for India in the recently concluded Zimbabwe clash, where he smashed a 16-ball 44 at a strike rate of 275. While he moved down from his usual No. 3 spot to No. 6 due to the inclusion of Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya’s promotion up the order, Tilak Varma’s resilience did not fade.

After a cracking start from Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya scored a 23-ball 50, alongside whom Varma, remaining unbeaten, tore into the Zimbabwe bowlers, falling just six runs short of his half-century.

He partnered with Pandya for 84 runs in just 31 deliveries to take India to 256 at the end of 20 overs. This heroic display with the bat called for special attention, which was answered by Brad Evans’ sister.

Tilak Varma Surprises Evans’ Sister With Special Message

After the match concluded, on the sidelines, Zimbabwe pacer Evans met Tilak to request a special video message from him. Tilak, ever humble and grounded, responded positively and recorded a video for his sister.

“My sister is a very big fan of his, so she asked if she could get a video message from him,” Evans told ICC.

In the video, Tilak Varma said, “Hi Rebecca, thank you for being a big fan. It means a lot. Hope to see you when I am in Zimbabwe. I will meet you, and your brother is amazing. He has bowled really well, and I will see you very soon. Thanks once again.”

Brad Evans later said in the video how big a fan Rebecca is and how she begged her brother for a video message.

“She actually messaged me only the other day asking for a message. She is going to be very embarrassed, but she has got the message now,” Evans concluded.

Varma's Consistent Run in T20 World Cup 2026 

Tilak Varma's performance so far in the T20 World Cup 2026 has been pretty decent. He has been consistent, except for the South Africa clash on February 22, where he scored just one run.

Other than that, he has been fairly consistent with scores of 25 or more. From his six outings, he has accumulated 151 runs at an average of 30.20, while striking at 142.45. He appeared with the ball in only one game, against Pakistan on February 15, where he picked up one wicket while conceding 11 runs from his two overs.

How Did Evans Fare?

Brad Evans, on the other hand, had a good outing overall but did not perform well in the Super Eight stage. In the group stage, he managed to pick up eight wickets from three matches.

However, the Super Eight clashes saw him take only one wicket, which came against West Indies, while he conceded 52 runs against India from his four overs. Overall, he claimed nine wickets from five appearances, but with an expensive economy rate of 9.49 and a strike rate of 12.00.
