Jammu and Kashmir are getting very close to winning their first-ever Ranji Trophy title. This exciting final match is being played at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground in Hubli, where they are facing Karnataka. The main reason behind Jammu and Kashmir’s strong position is their fast bowler, Auqib Nabi, who has been bowling exceptionally well throughout the match.
Auqib Nabi’s outstanding performance in Ranji Trophy
Notably, Auqib Nabi has been in excellent form during the Ranji Trophy season. In fact, he has already taken 60 wickets, which shows how consistent and dangerous he has been for opposing teams.
Moreover, during this important final, he once again delivered when his team needed him the most. In this match, he picked up five wickets in an innings for the seventh time this season. This remarkable achievement proves his dominance with the ball. As a result of his brilliant spell, Karnataka were bowled out for 293 runs.
Notably, he started his wicket-taking by dismissing KL Rahul for just 13 runs. Soon after that, he removed Karun Nair for a nine-ball duck.
Impressively, on the very next ball, he dismissed Smaran Ravichandran for a duck as well, taking two wickets in the same over. This sudden collapse put Karnataka under huge pressure.
Later, he also dismissed Shikhar Shetty for a duck. Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal tried his best to rebuild the innings for Karnataka. He played a fighting knock of 160 runs and looked solid at the crease. However, Auqib Nabi eventually removed him too, which broke Karnataka’s backbone.

Jammu and Kashmir’s strong batting effort
Earlier in the match, J&K had posted a huge first-innings total of 584 runs. This strong batting performance laid the foundation for their dominance in the game. However, Karnataka bowlers tried to fight back towards the end of the innings.
Notably, Prasidh Krishna dismissed Abid Mushtaq for 28 runs to provide the breakthrough. After that, Vijaykumar Vyshak removed Sahil Lotra, who had played a patient and valuable knock of 72 runs. Eventually, the innings came to an end at 584, but by then Jammu and Kashmir had already built a commanding total.
Jammu and Kashmir on the brink of history
As a result of their strong batting and exceptional bowling, Jammu and Kashmir secured a huge first-innings lead of 291 runs. However, they decided not to enforce the follow-on. Instead, they chose to bat again and increase their lead further.
At the time of writing, Karnataka have taken two quick wickets, and Jammu and Kashmir are 11 for 2 in 3 overs. Even so, they still lead by 302 runs with eight wickets remaining.
