The Bangladesh vs West Indies second Test at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium has grown intense after Hasan Mahmud picked up a five-fer after two days of the Test.
At lunch on Day 2, West Indies were standing at 322 runs for the loss of eight wickets, where five of the eight scalps were bagged by Mahmud, who missed a hat-trick after a DRS review from the batting team.

Mahmud, the young sensation of Bangladesh's Test bowling, bowled 22 overs till Day 2 lunch, bagging one maiden over and five wickets. Out of these five wickets, Mahmud came very close to achieving a hat-trick feat to add to his Test career.
In the 82nd over, Mahmud bowled out Amir Jangoo with a good-length delivery outside the off stump. As Jangoo decided to slice the delivery, the ball came back in and hit the top of the stump.
The very next ball was appealed for a caught behind, where Roston Chase attempted to defend a ball away from his body. The ball took the inside edge of his bat and was carried comfortably by Litton Das behind the stumps.
With West Indies six wickets down, Hasan Mahmud was on a hat-trick. The very next ball was bowled to Joshua Bishop, who came out to bat alongside Justin Greaves. A good-length delivery sharply turned towards the leg side. As Bishop tried to defend it, he misjudged the ball, and it crashed onto his pads. Mahmud went in loud with the appeal for an LBW, and the umpire obliged.
Soon after the dismissal, Hasan Mahmud started celebrating with his teammates for his hat-trick in the match. However, the batting team immediately took a DRS review, which saw a massive spike on the UltraEdge meter when the ball was passing the bat, hinting that it had nicked the edge of the bat and declaring the LBW decision null and void.
Hence, the umpire had to overturn his on-field decision and declare Joshua Bishop not out, which ultimately led to a failed hat-trick celebration for the Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud.

Nonetheless, Mahmud has been nifty with his craft of bowling, where he has scalped batters like Kavem Hodge, Kevin Wickham, Amir Jangoo, Roston Chase and Joshua Bishop later in the 90th over, when he was stumped by Litton Das with a brilliant effort on the field.
So far, Mahmud has been bowling at an economy rate of 3.91 while giving away only 86 runs from the overs he has bowled. Alongside Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz have also been successful in picking up wickets for the team.
