Shadman Islam was carried off the field on Friday (November 6) as Bangladesh faced West Indies in the second Test at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The incident happened during the 78th over of West Indies’ innings.
When Mehidy Hasan Miraz took the ball in hand against Amir Jangoo, Shadman sprinted towards the boundary line and struck his left ankle when he tried to pick the ball up.
It was an awkward tumble, and he was seen in serious pain. Physio and medical staff came to check on him quickly, as his left shoe was taken off.
Shadman Islam Hides His Face In Pain
The pain was so much that Shadman Islam kept on hiding his face while lying on the ground. In the end, the medical team had no choice but to take him off the ground with a stretcher.
The reason behind Shadman Islam’s unfortunate injury was that his left leg got twisted under his own weight. Later, they took him to the hospital for scans as well.
While carrying off the stretcher, Shadman kept on hiding his face while lying, giving an indication of how much pain he was in.
Bangladesh Fear Being Left With Just 10 Players
If Shadman is not fit for the remainder of the BAN vs WI 2nd Test, Bangladesh will have no choice but to play with 10 men for the rest of the match.
They replaced Mominul Haque with Jaker Ali as a concussion substitute last time around, but this time they can’t do that because it was an unfortunate ankle injury with no connection to his head.
Not to forget, Shadman was the top scorer for Bangladesh during the first Test in Dhaka. He also smashed a century, hitting 11 boundaries. Hence, it would be a big miss for Bangladesh, who are already 0-1 down in the two-match Test series.
West Indies defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, with Jomel Warrican named the Player of the Match after picking up nine wickets across both innings.
