In a high-intensity PSL 2026 final clash between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Peshawar Zalmi, Saim Ayub showcased his class with a classy six off Nahid Rana’s fiery delivery.

The PSL final took place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where Zalmi opted to bowl first after winning the toss. They took good advantage of the conditions to force Kingsmen into a brutal collapse.

Saim Ayub shocks Nahid Rana with a classy shot

That being said, Hyderabad Kingsmen had a nightmarish start to the first innings as they collapsed to 73/6 inside the first 8 overs. Hence, to rescue the sinking ship, star youngster Saim Ayub took charge.

In the final over of the powerplay, he attacked Nahid Rana with a classy shot. Rana banged in a 145 kph length ball outside off, which is normally a safe, hard-to-hit zone.

But Saim Ayub anticipated it early, shuffled across his stumps, and executed the scoop to perfection. At that speed, Ayub didn't need to generate power but just angle the bat.

That shot went straight for a six, and Saim Ayub was oozing with confidence after hitting that maximum. And he wasn’t done for the night at all. Ayub hit yet another four to bring up 13 runs off that over from Nahid Rana.

While the Hyderabad Kingsmen’s innings was falling apart with back-to-back dismissals and unfortunate run-outs, Saim Ayub took charge from one end.

He hit a crucial half-century just to guide the Kingsmen past 100 runs. Ayub’s innings was measured as he hit 5 fours and 2 sixes to control his aggression and only take risks where necessary.

However, Saim Ayub didn’t find any kind of support from the other end. The entire middle order departed on single-digit scores. Glenn Maxwell went back on a golden duck, while skipper Marnus Labuschagne could only hit 20 runs.

Irfan Khan and Kusal Perera shot themselves in the foot by getting run out, and with that, the Hyderabad Kingsmen are all set to finish with a below-par total.

On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi will back themselves to lift the PSL 2026 trophy at Lahore. The bowlers did an excellent job of forcing Hyderabad Kingsmen into a brutal collapse.

Nahid Rana and Aaron Hardie picked up 2 wickets each, while Sufiyan Muqeem and Mohammad Basit also contributed with a wicket each. All the bowlers were economical and maintained an economy below 8, except for Iftikhar Ahmed and Michael Bracewell.

At 16 overs, Hyderabad Kingsmen had 118 runs on the board at the loss of 8 wickets with Saim Ayub still fighting at the crease.
