Virat Kohli defines the man on the big stage to deliver, and he proved it once and for all once again on Sunday. While playing at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium in the IPL 2026 final, Kohli remained not out on 75 off just 42 deliveries to power RCB to win back-to-back titles.
Winning back-to-back titles is not at all easy, keeping in mind that the IPL is such a competitive competition with all the global superstars of the world making all the waves along with the breakout sensations. Only Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had won IPL titles in consecutive years before RCB.
While CSK, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, won back-to-back IPL titles in 2010 and 2011, MI achieved the same feat in 2019 and 2020, under Rohit Sharma. Now, Rajat Patidar has become the third captain to do the same.
Virat Kohli Goes To Social Media After RCB's IPL 2026 Win
Meanwhile, Kohli very rarely comes to social media these days, as the 37-year-old often engages in brand endorsements more often than not.
However, he did not miss the chance to celebrate RCB’s IPL 2026 win, mentioning the people who had questioned their team's pedigree.
"We asked ourselves a question last year- can we go back to back? Here we are again," Virat Kohli tweeted.
Virat Kohli, The Chasemaster, Was On A Mission
Known for being a specialist in run chases, Virat Kohli had the same job to do once again against Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final.
Even though the target was just 156, it was Kohli’s job to take his side past the finishing line without much trouble.
RCB had slipped a little, with Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya and captain Rajat Patidar failing without adding much to the board. Nevertheless, Kohli held the fort from the other end, smashing nine fours and three sixes to get the job done with two overs to spare and five wickets in hand.
When Will Virat Kohli Play Next?
Virat Kohli is expected to be in action for India’s upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan. The Afghanistan tour of India 2026 will begin with a one-off Test match in Mullanpur, which will get underway on June 6.
After that, Kohli will be involved in the ODIs, the only international format in which he still plays. The ODIs will be on June 13, June 17, and June 20 in Dharamshala, Lucknow, and Chennai, respectively.
Meanwhile, Kohli was seen hobbling for a bit during the IPL 2026 final between RCB and GT. However, he later confirmed that he was fit and there was nothing to worry about.
