BCCI Announces Historic Tri-Nation Series Squad (Source: AFP Photos)
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced a star-studded 15-member squad for the upcoming historic tri-nation series. There, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been picked as well, making all the headlines.
Among other significant developments, Tilak Varma, someone who is yet to take up the leadership responsibility for the Mumbai Indians, will lead the Indian side, which consisted of Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag as well.
India A To Play With Sri Lanka And Afghanistan
The BCCI confirmed the tri-nation series involving Sri Lanka A, India A and Afghanistan A to take place in Sri Lanka, and it will be a 50-over tournament. It will begin on June 9, approximately just over a week after the end of IPL 2026.
The flamboyant openers of Punjab Kings – Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh – have made the cut as well, and so did Anshul Kamboj, who has been bowling extremely well in IPL 2026 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), especially in death overs.
However, the biggest surprise in the India A squad was probably the absence of Prince Yadav. The 24-year-old right-arm pace sensation from Lucknow Super Giants has been at his impeccable best in IPL 2026, with 16 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 8.17, speaking volumes.

Instead of Prince, the BCCI picked the likes of Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh and Arshad Khan among the pacers. For the all-round department, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, and Vipraj Nigam have been chosen, while Kumar Kushagra, another exciting prospect who plays for Gujarat Titans, has been added as Prabhsimran’s back-up.
Hailing from Vihar, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, then aged 13, became the youngest IPL player ever during IPL 2025. Since then, he has been the talk of the town wherever he plays, whether it is for India Under-19, India A or Rajasthan Royals, among other teams.
