Virat Kohli was seen in extra-aggressive form when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) played Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 tournament.
This match was played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 5 and saw RCB batting first after CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss.
However, the decision backfired as RCB batters hammered the CSK bowlers to all parts of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Virat Kohli took the lead and scored 28 in just 18 balls before getting out. Phil Salt carried on to score 46 runs, while Devdutt Padikkal made 50.
However, it was the 99-run unbeaten partnership between Rajat Patidar and Tim David that propelled RCB’s score to 250/3 in 20 overs.
Patidar made 48* in 19 balls with 1 four and 6 sixes, while David destroyed the CSK attack with 70* in 25 balls with 3 fours and 8 huge sixes.
Virat Kohli received a send-off from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube
Virat Kohli might’ve only scored 28 runs with the bat, but he set the tone for the rest of RCB's innings with his intent. Kohli was looking good before Anshul Kamboj dismissed him in the fifth over of the innings.
Kamboj hit a hard-length ball outside the off stump on the third delivery of his over. With his shot selection predetermined, Kohli attempted to step down and pull the ball.
However, the inconsistent bounce prevented the ball from making a good contact with the bat, and the top edge launched the delivery high into the air. Shivam Dube, who was positioned at long-on, sprinted in the direction of the ball and easily dismissed Kohli.
Both Shivam Dube and Ruturaj Gaikwad celebrated wildly to see the back of Virat Kohli and his return to the pavilion.
Gaikwad seemed overjoyed as he ran in with emotion, shouting loudly and banging his fists in the air, while Dube celebrated in his trademark manner. However, after making the catch, Dube was shown slamming the ball against the ground.

Virat Kohli gives it back with wild celebrations on Sanju Samson’s dismissal
The Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) innings was routed by RCB bowling as Jacob Duffy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Krunal Pandya reduced the yellow army to 77/4, and the majority of those runs came from Sarfaraz Khan, who made 50 in 25 balls.
Ruturaj Gaikwad fell for 7, Ayush Mhatre fell for 1, and Sanju Samson followed for 9 runs, with Kartik Sharma joining them for just 7 runs' contribution.
Sanju Samson’s rotten luck continued as he fell for his third consecutive single-digit score since joining the CSK franchise.
This time, Samson got out in a pure Test fashion, as Jacob Duffy bowled an out-swinger on length, and Samson followed the ball, edging it to slips, where Devdutt Padikkal took a smart catch.
The camera panned towards Virat Kohli, who hadn’t forgotten the sendoff he received from Ruturaj and Dube and celebrated his aggressive style at the fall of Samson’s wicket, giving it back to the CSK players.
